Job Description

Location/s: Hong Kong
Recruiter contact: Betty Atthawimol

The role
We are looking for a Buildings Market Development Director to drive the growth of our buildings business in Hong Kong and region. This is a leadership role that goes well beyond winning work. You will shape our market strategy, coach and develop our teams, champion technical excellence, and be a trusted advisor to both clients and colleagues.

You will work closely with our regional and global buildings leadership to position Mott MacDonald as the consultant of choice for complex, high-profile building projects across Hong Kong and Asia.

What you’ll do

Grow the business
Develop and implement a buildings market growth plan for Hong Kong that is aligned with Market and Unit objectives and adaptive to changing market conditions. Identify, qualify and prioritise pursuit opportunities across our focus buildings submarkets. Be proactive in outreach, engaging clients through market sounding, networking, and demonstrating through our track record why we are the right partner. Lead bid strategy and positioning for major pursuits, and raise the firm’s profile through industry engagement, and thought leadership.

Coach winning teams
Coach teams to prepare high-quality proposals that have compelling right to win, inbed delivery cost leadership, and formulate winning teams. Lead interview preparation and help teams articulate compelling, client-focused narratives.

Build and deepen client relationships
Build and maintain senior level relationships with key clients, government bodies, private developers, institutional investors, infrastructure authorities and end users. Be a trusted advisor who understands their challenges and connects them with the best of Mott MacDonald.

Support delivery excellence
Support teams with identifying technical and commercial market differentiation. Drive a culture of value creation, to help teams deliver quality professional services that enhance business reputation and build mutual trust with clients. Work across Mott MacDonald’s sectors, practices and regions to bring multidisciplinary value and champion a “one Mott MacDonald” approach.

Cultivate partnerships
Identify and nurture strategic partnerships with architects, developers, contractors and fellow consultancies to strengthen our competitive positioning on major pursuits across the region.

What you’ll bring
You are a well connected buildings market professional who combines commercial instinct with genuine technical leadership and a passion for developing others.

We’re looking for someone with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the AEC industry, with demonstrable business development and delivery leadership in Hong Kong’s built environment sector. You’ll have an established network of client and industry relationships across government, private and institutional clients, along with experience shaping and executing market growth strategies in a consultancy environment. Strong commercial acumen, the ability to coach multidisciplinary teams, and excellent communication and presentation skills at senior levels are essential. A degree in engineering or a related built environment discipline is expected.

Desirable: Familiarity with Mott MacDonald’s core buildings sub markets (aviation, healthcare, venues and metro stations), experience with digital delivery tools and innovation adoption, fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin in addition to English a bonus.

We put equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all. We encourage individual expression in our workplace and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels they have the opportunity to contribute.
