We are seeking Project Managers of all levels that demonstrate a passion to work collaboratively with our client teams to deliver their complex projects to time, cost, and quality with a commitment to safety.

We are interested in speaking with Project Management professionals with multi-sector experience who are looking to embark in a career within the Energy sector.

Please note; Applicants must be willing to be on site in Cumbria between 3 and 5 days per week.

A bit about the team:

Our portfolio of Energy projects offers an extensive range of programme support capabilities to our Nuclear Energy clients and offers applicants exposure to interesting and complex projects. Mott MacDonald are looking to hire experienced

What you will contribute to the team:

  • Ownership of and responsibility for the successful delivery of your project
  • Development and delivery of business cases
  • Preparing and maintaining schedules, including dependencies and resources
  • Identifying and monitoring project risks and opportunities
  • Quality management processes for project activities and outputs
  • Managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests
  • Establishing and maintaining project governance reviews
  • Developing and managing teams
  • Managing suppliers

Candidate Specification :

Required for the role of Project Manager

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or successful experience in project management
  • Working towards APM PMQ level qualification or equivalent (e.g., Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE2 Practitioner)
  • Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors and clients
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering infrastructure or technical projects, within highly regulated industries from start to finish including budgeting, managing a team and managing timescales
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organisation skills;
  • Willing to work at client site or office 3 - 5 times per week.
  • Essential soft skills include self-motivation; taking initiative; leadership, adaptability, and flexibility; effective listening, collaboration; influence and persuasion, insightfulness;
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills and ability to continue to completion existing projects and initiatives;
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft applications

Preferred:

  • Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM)
  • APM PMQ level qualified or equivalent (e.g., Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE2 Practitioner)

About the business unit
The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.

The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management.


Defence & energy
With extensive experience in the global defence sector, Mott MacDonald’s advisory and programme delivery teams deliver projects ranging from complex infrastructure upgrades to carbon reduction initiatives.
Our experience in energy ranges from nuclear, renewables, hydro, thermal to electricity and gas, providing services to a global customer base within the energy sector, supporting the delivery of major capital projects and the transition to low-carbon generation.
