About the business unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

About the role

If so, our Power, Process & Nuclear division are looking for a Principal level Mechanical Engineer to join our fast-growing team and develop a nuclear mechanical engineering capability within the northwest. You’ll be working on multi-discipline design projects, be responsible for speaking on behalf of the mechanical discipline, identifying opportunities for growing the capability, and be involved in the recruitment and training of junior mechanical engineers. Candidate Specification :

You’ll be responsible for providing quality assurance of others work by surveillance and checking and therefore chartered status is preferred, although demonstration of progress and equivalent experience will be considered.
• Chartered status with the IMechE or other relevant professional body
• Lead mechanical engineering aspects of multi-discipline design projects
• Possess a broad knowledge of industry standards and legislation
• Be able to present and defend solutions to complex problems to clients
• Ensures safety is an integral part of mechanical engineering design
• Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering design
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects
• Client-facing experience as well as a commercial awareness of FEED projects
• Able to actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, facility and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit for purpose solutions.

Due to the sensitivity of some of our projects, candidates will be required to apply for and obtain UK Security Clearance.
