Job Description

Before making an application, please browse all graduate opportunities available as we will accept one application per candidate. Once you have made an application you will not be able to make changes to your selection or make a new application. The exception is if we open new vacancies in the new year.

To avoid missing out on this opportunity, we recommend that you apply as soon as possible as we will close when the positions have been filled.

We are seeking a graduate IT solutions specialist to help expand our productivity applications team. In short, we are looking for someone who takes pride in the craft of deriving value from providing productivity applications to the business.

Working in the productivity applications team in our IT department, you will grow our suite of products by rolling out new applications, enhancing existing applications and helping the business gain maximum value from those applications. Our productivity applications team primarily focuses on the Microsoft 365 stack of products, but it also includes ServiceNow as well as an internally hosted Digital Archive. Making sure that our applications are configured optimally for ease-of-use and information security can be a tricky balance but that is the challenge that awaits you! Mott MacDonald is committed to a modern digital workplace, and our enterprise-wide systems need to be suitable for the many and varied locations and devices that our employees need to access them on.

As a Graduate Productivity Applications Solutions Specialist, you will have a chance to work in the productivity applications team to extend our range of applications to meet the ever-changing environment. You will have the opportunity to try your hand at business analysis, project management and change control as you perform applications investigations and then deploy changes to the production environment. Within the scope of the work, you may be responsible for any number of these elements:

  • Investigate new products from the Microsoft suite

  • Investigate new products to meet a new business requirement

  • Gather and document requirements for a business problem

  • Work with the development team to design a solution

  • Create an application support model

  • Write user guidance and help pages for new or enhanced applications

  • Investigate problems and help to test solutions

Candidate Specification

We are looking for committed and motivated graduates with a genuine passion and a desire to make a difference in the world. If this describes you, apply today to launch your career at Mott MacDonald. To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience (excluding placements) and have a degree (obtained no earlier than 2023) or are expected to achieve one in the following subjects.

  • Computer Science

  • Software Engineering

  • Other STEM degrees

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.

  • An understanding of the software development lifecycle

  • An understanding of how people use applications to meet their needs

  • A logical mind that can understand the ramifications of ticking or un-ticking a box in an Admin console and what that might mean for the end-users

  • An investigative mind that can read technical literature and then translate it into common English

  • Able to translate requirements, process flows and design into clear documentation.

  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.

  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

As we want the best people for the role, we support flexible working. Please ask us at interview stage about any flexibility you may need.

Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024.

Our ethos is to develop, train and retain our graduates and therefore we are looking for a long-term relationship with our graduates. For this reason, we are not able to accept applications from candidates who would be working under the Graduate visa route or other time-limited visas, (irrespective of visa duration), due to their temporary nature and the requirement for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route in future.

We continue to welcome applications from candidates who are eligible for alternative immigration routes in the UK, that do not require sponsorship as a Skilled Worker now or in future.
