Are you passionate about working with customers on their most forward-looking AI initiatives? We are seeking someone interested in designing for AI products and their impact on the human experience.

The Industry Solutions Team is a global organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. We are lucky enough to research, design & develop with customers to collaboratively innovate solutions tailored to their business needs. In the process, we help shape the future of our own platforms by partnering with our product groups to improve Microsoft product experiences. Our diverse skillsets and curious natures help us foster innovation with our customers and with each other.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer, AI with strong human factors and product design skills to join our expanding team. In this role, you will influence, shape and execute products and solutions that are human-first in their support of business outcomes. Collaborating with colleagues and customers, you inspire novel experiences that can be lit up with technology.

The ideal candidate knows how to bring the relevant design approaches into projects and drive the development of appealing, relevant and responsible products or systems. Our work on projects is often varied and ambiguous, so you will need to work creatively and flexibly within constraints.

As well as customer teams, you will also be working directly and closely with Microsoft Data Scientists, Program Managers and Engineers. Our focus is on projects where data science is a significant part of the solution so you should feel comfortable in this space.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Product Designer, you will have the following responsibilities:

Product Design

  • Understand the business problem space and use data and insights to establish customer context and opportunities
  • Conceptualise and shape end-to-end solutions and experiences by using design techniques and human-centered approaches
  • Work with research and data to inform direction and distil broad opportunities into relevant product experiences
  • Produce high quality product designs that are fit for purpose and in line with relevant principles, frameworks and heuristics for the customer’s setting and industry
  • Create compelling, impactful artefacts to bring clarity to the space being explored and to progress desired outcomes and decisions

Collaboration

  • Work within technically oriented, multidisciplinary teams to drive impact
  • Represent design throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation through to execution
  • Collaborate to shape solutions holistically, making informed trade-offs in line with context and insights, ensuring all solutions uphold our responsible AI principles
  • Communicate precise designs and definitions for services, products and experiences

Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Knowledge of responsible AI principles and artificial intelligence technologies
  • Experience developing products for a range of settings and platforms
  • Demonstrable product and experience design skills and ability to work cross-functionally to execute to a good standard
  • High calibre of communication and storytelling skills, ability to influence human-centered approaches and choices
  • Proficiency with relevant design tools (specifically Figma), and iterative design processes

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in design or related fields (e.g. Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction) OR equivalent experience working in product or service design
  • Industry experience of working across all product stages from discovery to release
  • Experience working with ambiguous scope and/or in complex settings to deliver design and product outcomes
  • Experience working as part of geographically distributed, diverse, and virtual teams
