Senior Cloud Network Engineer - Fibre Product

Job Description

Azure Fiber is seeking a dedicated Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join our team. The role involves designing and managing fibre products, assessing their performance against specifications. You will be part of a team responsible for managing product and sub-assembly specifications, focusing on developing and improving existing products. Additionally, you will use and augment database and software workflows for product control. You will collaborate with fibre manufacturing, network systems, software teams, and network operations teams to develop and produce hollowcore fiber and cable solutions. This role includes hands-on work at our state-of-the-art Romsey facility.

Responsibilities

  • Documents the appropriate test requirements and improvements to be included in relevant hardware designs by applying an understanding of how moderately complex features or products work under a variety of customer scenarios.
  • Develops and implement data and statistical frameworks using programming language and relational database structures to manage products, identifying complex problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change.
  • Identifies possible solutions and brings them to the attention of other engineers or team leads, managing product changes through change requests and identifies opportunities to affect downstream execution of projects by resolving issues and implementing design tradeoffs within scope (e.g., performance vs. reliability and manufacturing concerns), identifies common project risks (e.g., external supplier or partner delays, incomplete specs, or tool issues) at the outset of a project, and develops plans to address those risks.
  • Uses root cause analysis to identify complex problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change. Identifies possible solutions and brings them to the attention of other engineers or team leads.
  • Contributes input to a single project implementation schedule to deliver the hardware engineering aspects of a moderately complex feature or product. Escalates issues to management as necessary.
  • Implements and tracks product plans with minimal guidance. Provides recommendations to help develop comprehensive product plans (e.g., describe the user experience, enable customer/partner testing scenarios, allow for design reuse, are verifiable).
  • Uses data and statistical analyses to make recommendations to optimize existing processes, or creates new processes that can be used by own team.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Sciences or related field AND technical engineering experience in Volume Manufacturing
    • OR Master's OR PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Sciences or related field AND technical engineering experience in Volume Manufacturing
    • OR Data Sciences AND technical engineering experience in Volume Manufacturing

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND technical engineering experience in fibre optics
    • OR Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND technical engineering experience in fibre optics
    • OR Doctorate degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND technical engineering experience in fibre optics
    • OR equivalent experience in fibre optics.
    • AND experience in relational database and use of programming languages for data science and workflows.
