Job Description

Overview

Health Futures is a Research and Incubation team working at the intersection of computer science, signal processing, machine learning, and biomedicine. We are a global and diverse team of engineers, scientists and medical doctors who are working on next-generation Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and methods for health and life sciences. We offer a unique and vibrant environment that features innovative academic research, enterprise software development, and real-world delivery, with close feedback loops and rapid iterations among all three, much like a lean startup. Our mission is to empower every person on the planet to live a healthier future.

We are looking for a Principal Researcher to help us explore ways that we can improve access to advanced medical imaging. You will lead efforts to design and implement new acquisition and reconstruction techniques for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). In this role, you will leverage your background in MRI physics, signal processing, and reconstruction and explore how the latest innovations in AI might change how we think about the role of advanced imaging techniques such as MRI. This role requires you act as a leader in a diverse research environment where you will craft new approaches to imaging. You will need to take a hands-on approach to experiments and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Signal processing and image reconstruction: Lead the development of state-of-the art image reconstruction methods for MRI. Combine traditional signal processing with AI based methods.

  • MRI Physics: Use your expertise in MRI pulse sequences to design novel approaches to data acquisition that can take advantage of AI based image reconstruction techniques.

  • Instrumentation: Lead research to rethink the way instruments are calibrated and the image acquisition strategies that will be needed in the age of AI.

  • Publications: Write scientific publications that demonstrate how AI might transform medical imaging and present our work at scientific meetings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctorate in physics, engineering or relevant field AND 3+ years related research experience OR equivalent experience.

Preferred:

  • Relevant years' of experience with MRI pulse sequences and reconstruction techniques.
  • Experience with emerging or alternative approaches to MRI such as low-field MRI or novel instrument designs.

  • Experience with applying AI to image reconstruction or pulse sequence development.

  • Experience with existing open standards for MRI such as the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) Raw Data format and the associated software ecosystem.
