Job Description

What you'll bring to the team

We’re on the lookout for a Multi-skilled Technician, responsible for the day to day maintenance of show equipment, rides, theming, and the facility, based at SEA LIFE London. Who wouldn’t want a job where sharks and penguins watch on as you go about your daily work!

About the role

On a typical day (if you can call it that!) you may be working at the attraction to carry out electrical and mechanical inspections and maintenance activities. Naturally this means you’ll be dealing with both routine maintenance and breakdowns and therefore you will work swiftly and with care to diagnose and rectify problems. Utilising your hands-on knowledge and experience you will sustain minimal downtime of rides and themed attractions for the maximum guest experience.

Your role will also include carrying out planned preventative maintenance checks, completing tasks as per work orders and installation, repair, and housekeeping works. You will ensure that all actions arising from inspection reports are reported to the Technical Supervisor and that all tasks are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

As this is a busy environment you’ll often be working in our public areas, so you’ll be keen to deliver great customer service and be confident to speak with visitors of all ages! You’ll also be a real team player who likes nothing more than getting stuck in to resolve any problems. In every case you’ll need to ensure tasks are done to the highest possible quality to ensure the agreed standards are met.

This is a full time, permanent role and includes working a regular, fair share of weekends and bank holidays as required. Our attractions are open daily and so full flexibility is required around key deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

About you

  • Ideally with an electrical bias, you'll hold an ONC or HNC in an engineering discipline and have completed and indentured apprenticeship in either electrical or mechanical production
  • Able to work under pressure in a heavily guest focused environment
  • Flexible
  • High personal standards, strong personal motivation, as well as the motivation to deliver the best for our business and our guests
  • A positive and self-motivated individual with a strong eye for detail and who takes pride in their work
  • Must be a time served apprentice with several years of experience in a multi-skilled environment

Benefits

Alongside providing vital support to the London attractions, you’ll also receive:

  • 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants and 40% off LEGO online
  • Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to all our attractions worldwide for you, your family, and friends every year
  • Rail annual season ticket loan
  • Non-contractual bonus
  • Discounted rates at Merlin hotels all over the world
  • Employee pricing up to 55% off cinema tickets

If you have any questions or if you require any assistance, because of a disability or medical condition, please contact us by email at Recruitment@Merlinentertainments.biz and one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
