Job Description

What you'll bring to the team

Roll Summary

At LEGOLAND New York Resort, safety is at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an experienced and influential Health & Safety Director to shape and deliver our resort-wide health and safety strategy, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests, employees and contractors.

This is a highly visible leadership role, working closely with the Resort Leadership Team and partnering with colleagues across Merlin Entertainments to drive a proactive safety culture, manage critical risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the continued growth and success of the Resort.

As a key member of the leadership team, you'll help create an environment where safety is more than a requirement—it's a core value embedded in every aspect of our operation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and deliver the Resort's Health & Safety strategy, aligned with Merlin Entertainments' global safety vision and priorities.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify, assess and effectively manage operational risks.
  • Drive a positive, proactive safety culture where accountability and continuous improvement are embedded across all teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local health and safety legislation, including OSHA requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on health and safety matters across resort operations, attractions, accommodation and support functions.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Health & Safety team.
  • Oversee governance, assurance, reporting and performance monitoring processes.
  • Support the development and delivery of new attractions, capital projects and operational initiatives by ensuring robust safety considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, industry bodies and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance relating to Security, First Aid and occupational health programmes.
  • Champion innovation and best practice, continuously enhancing safety performance across the Resort.

Qualifications & Experience

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a strategic and collaborative leader with a passion for creating safe, high-performing environments.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health & safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum six years' experience in a senior Health & Safety leadership role.
  • Experience operating within a complex, high-hazard environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and health and safety compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organizational change.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful safety strategies and programs.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Health & Safety certifications such as ASP, CSP or equivalent.
  • Experience within hospitality, leisure, attractions, manufacturing, construction, transportation or other high-risk industries.
  • Experience supporting major projects, construction programs or operational start-up activities.
