Head of Event Sales

Location: London, Arbor

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent, salaried

We are recruiting for a commercially driven Head of Event Sales UK to lead national sales performance across our diverse Merlin Venues portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on driving long-term revenue growth, expanding market reach, and positioning Merlin Venues as a leading destination for corporate, agency, and international events.

You will shape and deliver the UK sales strategy, leading proactive business development and unlocking new commercial opportunities while working closely with senior stakeholders to strengthen market presence. You will build a forward-looking sales plan aligned to financial targets, informed by market insights and demand trends, and collaborate with General Managers, Finance, and Marketing to maximise revenue performance and alignment.

The role will lead a proactive sales approach including outreach, campaigns, RFPs, and strategic prospecting, alongside developing strong relationships with corporate clients, agencies, DMCs, and international partners. You will also identify new vertical markets such as tech, luxury brands, incentive travel, film and TV, and experiential activations, and represent Merlin Venues at key industry events.

In addition, you will oversee high-quality commercial proposals, improve sales systems and processes, deliver regular performance reporting, and use market insight and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and support continued growth in collaboration with Marketing.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ senior sales leadership experience within the events industry
  • Demonstrated success in exceeding sales targets through proactive business development and relationship management
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop strategy, interpret data, and deliver accurate forecasting
  • Confident communicator and negotiator, with the ability to build strong credibility with senior stakeholders, partners, and clients
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
