The Global Master Data Business Lead enables the adoption of master data practices within a defined domain (Finance, Vendor, Product, R&D, or Customer), ensuring business needs are addressed while adhering to the guardrails, standards, and policies defined at MGS and Petcare levels.
Act as the key link between business operations and data governance, co-creating practical ways of working, driving adoption, and supporting adherence to the defined guardrails, standards, and policies.
Support the creation of a trusted data foundation that enables Royal Canin’s growth, digital transformation, and AI-driven decision-making at scale.
What are we looking for?
- 5 to 10 years of experience in a business function with expertise in related Master Data Domain, Data Governance, or Master Data activities.
- Experience supporting Master Data Management (MDM) processes across business domains.
- Good understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata concepts.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP, Salesforce, or similar (preferred).
- Basic understanding of data platforms such as Azure or Databricks (preferred).
- Strong understanding of business processes and data flows.
- Ability to work with stakeholders and support change in a global or matrix environment.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Governance, Adoption & Adherence in Domain
- Co-create the domain data strategy and roadmap with relevant business stakeholders, aligned with RC/Mars priorities and the guardrails defined at MGS and Petcare levels.
- Communicate, embed, and drive adoption of domain data policies, standards, and data maintenance (CRUD) processes.
- Apply the Petcare MDM governance framework and support continued adherence to MGS and Petcare policies, standards, guardrails, and processes, strengthening data quality and trust.
Domain Data Business Leadership
- Lead business adoption and adherence for master data within the assigned domain (Customer, Product, Vendor, Finance, Raws and Packs).
- Chair the monthly Domain Data Governance Forum, enabling co-creation with stakeholders, adherence to governance processes, and assessment of requested changes within and across domains.
- Co-create recommendations for domain changes with relevant stakeholders and submit them to the Domain Data Owner, within defined decision rights, guardrails, standards, and policies.
- Coordinate dependencies and facilitate resolution of transversal data issues across domains.
- Escalate systemic non-adherence and access or audit breaches to the Domain Data Owner.
- Communicate and support consistent application of domain business definitions and hierarchy principles, while tracking exceptions approved by the Data Owner.
- Maintain domain data design documentation, structures, hierarchies, and attribute definitions in accordance with MGS and Petcare standards.
- Support auditability, compliance, and effective control of master data processes.
- Build and engage a network of domain data SMEs to co-create solutions and reinforce adoption.
Data Quality Management
- Develop domain KPIs and issues tracking capability, supported by the MDM Governance Director and Data Owner
- Ensure data is accurate, complete, and consistently maintained across systems, while tracking input KPIs (completeness, accuracy) and business outcome KPIs (e.g., delayed invoices, failed orders, operational impact).
- Ensure effective root cause analysis and drive corrective actions, aligned and prioritized to meet the business needs.
Business Collaboration & Alignment
- Partner with business users, process owners, GPOs, and functional teams to co-create domain solutions and align data needs and priorities.
- Translate business requirements into clear data definitions and rules within the guardrails, standards, and policies established at MGS and Petcare levels.
- Drive adoption of data governance practices and reinforce adherence across the business.
- Ensure master data enables effective end-to-end process performance.
Operational Support for Transformation
- Support transformation and deployment programs to ensure they are resourced and appropriately structured to effectively manage their MDM needs (e.g., EOS).
- Work with each program to ensure effective ways of working between them and RC MDM BAU
- Work with each program to ensure effective change management planning to support a smooth transition of the MDM processes and design to Run & Grow
Continuous Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality processes and governance practices.
- Drive automation and simplification of master data maintenance activities.
- Leverage AI and digital tools to enhance data governance and efficiency.
External & Ecosystem Alignment
- Collaborate with Mars Global Services (MGS), Petcare teams, system integrators, and external partners to co-create workable domain solutions.
- Drive adoption and adherence to MGS and Petcare governance guardrails, standards, and policies across internal and external delivery teams.
