In 2021, Mars became a majority shareholder in Vetsource US. Vetsource is an eBusiness 2 Business 2 Customer retailer helping to improve the lives of vets and pets. Vetsource conveniently delivers prescription medicines and nutrition products directly to the pet owner's home. Vetsource will be launching a new business in the UK and then expanding across Europe, the Americas and APAC. The vetsource team operates in a fast paced and exciting start-up international environment within one of the largest food multinational corporations.

The supply chain Manager will be leading supply operations in the UK (keep up with the capacity to deliver the product to the pet owner with right high-quality products, right inventory levels, at the right time, right location and right cost) and eventually be leading a team as we move to more mature logistic integrations like drop shipping or dispensing and dispatching from our own pharmacy.

This role reports into the Head of Operations of Vetsource International.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Supply chain operations

  • Resourceful in solving daily operations issues, embed learnings and manage returns, refunds and recalls

  • Collaborate and innovate with our wholesaler in the UK (follow-up, convince and challenge to support Vetsource UK ambitions)

  • Carry out preventive and reactive actions to guarantee seamless operations and E2E product delivery

  • Work with CFO and Head of Operations to define and execute a sustainable and efficient operating model in the UK

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in understanding monthly forecasting, sales trends, and marketing initiatives to support the coordination of Supply Chain Activities and validate forecasted demands

Process optimization

  • End-to end logistics process optimization (on time and full order delivery, meeting regulatory requirements) and defining and applying processes to safeguard Mars Assets in relation to operations

  • Lead internal supply process optimization: streamline internal processes to drive efficiency and implement metrics and KPIs to drive change, monitor progress and capture learnings

  • Exceed performance requirements in the areas of cost control, service quality and sustainability

Continuous improvement

  • Drive lean improvement initiatives related to waste and/or cost reduction, improved efficiency, inventory management and risk mitigation

  • Apply quality improvement methodologies to organizational processes in supply chain operations

  • Identify and eliminate or mitigates major non-quality cost processes

Leadership and internationalisation

  • Problem solving and change champion, very comfortable in ambiguous and fast-paced environment with entrepreneurial mindset

  • Support Head of Operations in exploring and setting up new and more efficient supply chain routes and more convenient experience for pet owners and clinics in the UK

  • Work with Vetsource International Head of Operations to prepare the supply operations launch in next market

Context and scope

  • This role will report into the Head of Operations of Vetsource International

  • This role will have strong internal interactions with quality, regulatory, product/tech, customer care leaders at Vetsource International, and supply chain teams at Mars and Royal Canin and externally with wholesalers and manufacturers

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree, or equivalent experience

  • Fluent in English

  • Extensive experience in purchasing, supplier management, demand planning, inventory management

Essential:

  • Supply chain

  • Continuous improvement and efficiency

Preferred:

  • Vet/health business experience

  • Project Management experience

  • Experience in ERP systems

  • Strong analytical acumen, business modelling and advanced Excel skills

Other competencies

  • Understands the meaning and implications of key financial indicators

  • Ability to navigate through complex issues, interpret and transform various types of information and data into recommendations

  • Ability to flourish with and influence cross-functional teams as well as external business partners in an environment of fast growth and ambiguity

  • Ability to make sound judgment decisions based on organizational, pet owner convenience and financial impacts
