About the role: This role will be working for our Mars Petcare segment, where we make life better for pets and their owners.

Role Title: Shift Manager

Reporting to: Operations Manager
Location: Bathurst, NSW

Are you a natural leader with a passion for cultivating talent and driving operational success? We’re seeking a motivated and experienced Shift Manager who excels in managing production staff, optimizing processes, and maintaining a positive and productive work environment. In this role, you will be leading and coaching your team and managing their day-to-day performance and development to ensure all production objectives are achieved.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, develop and motivate a diverse team of production staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

  • Oversee daily production activities, ensuring that processes run smoothly and that production targets are consistently achieved.

  • Set priorities and make decisions across the shift, balancing competing demands and ensuring overall performance.

  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts within the team promptly and effectively.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development and growth for team members.

  • Prioritising and managing tasks within the designated area to ensure the plant starts on time and learning curves are being met.

  • Developing and implementing continuous improvement activities that address safety, quality and efficiency.

  • Planning, directing and coordinating team members during dry & wet commissioning and product/process validation, to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards.

  • Develop plans & production schedules, allocating labor/capital resources.

  • Liaising with the Reliability, Safety, Quality, Supply, R&D, Project & Site Engineering & Logistics teams.

Your unique ingredients:

  • Continuous improvement mindset, growth mindset & behaviours with a passion for leadership demonstrated.

  • Ability to lean into tough conversations, performance management and disciplinary whilst also driving development, motivation and progression.

  • Proven experience in a people management role, with a track record of successfully leading and developing teams.

  • Manufacturing experience preferred but not essential.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage a diverse team.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

  • Experience with production planning and process optimization.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
