Job Purpose
India SRA Senior Manager: Ensure regulatory compliance for all regulatory related activities for Pet Nutrition according to local regulatory legislations/standards. He/she will be recognized as a technical expert for the delivery of the regulatory element of business projects and undertake such activities to ensure that Mars Petcare is at the leading edge of regulatory developments; influencing activities are supported; the business responds in the appropriate way to regulatory developments and challenges; the business is aware of, and reacts to, emerging regulatory issues. Manage internal/external stakeholders and support Global/Asia SRA deployment to OE business unit.
Asia SRA Pillar leader: Support Asia SRA Director to connect the dots across OEs on assigned regulatory pillar anticipate and drive the aligned key success measures.
Key Responsibilities
People & Team Management:
- Lead India SRA organization to define OE SRA Roadmap & Annual Focus according to OE business objectives and goals, align with Asia SRA Director & relevant functional leads, including communicating to key internal stakeholders.
- Supervise SRA team member(s) in daily operations and support to troubleshoot when required.
- Ensure sufficient team resources to perform the responsible scopes and explore initiative approaches to manage short-term workload if any.
Regulatory compliance:
- Undertake responsibility for defined brand/product areas and all product technical and legislative issues pertaining to this area and associated projects.
- Act as primary interface with other functions at the operating level; direct interface with all business functions on technical aspects of regulatory affairs.
- Promote and inform the development and substantiation of innovative claims that that enable the business to maximise the competitive advantage within compliance scope.
- Provide technical expertise to enable the development of robust technical briefings for R&D or other business functions/partners to use to proactively when representing our business.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of, and adherence to robust business processes that ensure products and claims are legally compliant.
- Provide reasoned and analytical risk assessments as required that evaluate regulatory risk, business exposure and likely consequences, as well as providing opportunities for mitigation.
External Stakeholder Management:
- Develop/expand strong external networks and lead the technical/regulatory influencing activities of the Petfood industry (competitors via Industry association) and of the Regulatory authorities.
- Strategize for short/mid/long term approaches with association & relevant authorities and drive for achievements.
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments both in feed and food sectors to enable the business to react in a timely fashion to minimise impact or facilitate exploitation of such developments.
Internal Stakeholder Management:
- Works closely with the business team to ensure that current and proposed regulatory requirements are understood and correctly interpreted.
- Provide internal expertise in technical regulatory matters for defined functional areas across the entire Mars Petcare business.
- Provide Regulatory Affairs input and/or representation in the appropriate business forums.
- Engage through Asia SRA Leadership team and ensure that OE projects, strategies and initiatives are aligned with global priorities and targets.
- Devise and deliver RA trainings on key strategic technical and regulatory issues for key clients and partners in the business.
Regulatory Intelligence:
- Support Asia SRA to develop Regulatory Intelligence framework to define the effective monitoring program for upcoming regulation or changes of existing regulations.
- Support to consolidate key regulatory contexts and their changes, potential business impacts and mitigation plan.
- Organize communication session to deliver the Regulatory Intelligence information to relevant functions.
Job Specifications/Qualifications
- Degree qualified in a food or science related discipline
- 8+ yrs experience working in MARS or similar role in FMCG company Science background with Regulatory Affairs experiences.
- Understanding of Regulatory compliance processes, quality management principles, working in teams, process management, conflict resolution
- Fluent in written and spoken English
