The Global One M&M’S Senior Manager Corporate Affairs, reports to the General Manager Global M&M’S Ecosystem. The role is responsible for Corporate Affairs (CA) function for the global retail M&M’S business (M&M’s Stores incl. Franchise, M&M’S Digital e.g. D2C, B2B etc., Supply, Merchandising), as well the global One M&M’S team (GM, S&F, R&D, Brand Content & Media, Licensing). The role spans both internal business, leadership and change communication alongside external corporate reputation, media relations and issues management, in close partnership with other CA team members across the world.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism or related field strongly preferred)

  • 8+ years’ experience across communications and internal communications roles

  • Strong business acumen

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills

  • Critical thinking skills and good judgement

  • Must be able to demonstrate organizational agility and a successful track record of delivery in a complex matrix business environment

  • Regional or global experience is preferred

  • Experience within marketing or agency teams is a bonus

  • High autonomy

What will be your key responsibilities?

This Associate will work with a range of Associates and senior leaders around the world and in different functions to develop and implement strategies that enhance and protect the reputation of Mars. This role will enable the global Corporate Communications organization to deliver against these practices in line with overall reputation strategies. This Associate will be part of a large, diverse group of professionals focused on innovative communications with significant opportunities for career growth.

The Global M&M’S Senior Manager Corporate Affairs is responsible for:

Internal Communications:

Developing and executing internal communications aimed at engaging Associates around the company’s business agenda and building strong global functional communications strategies. The job holder will be an experienced communications professional who is adept at planning and implementing successful Associate campaigns that cut through and generate positive impact.

  • Business Communications: Develop long-term Internal Communications strategy with the right mix of channels/tools to balance push and pull tactics and align with senior leaders across critical business priorities. Bring together cross-functional team members to share regional business results and engage Associates in key business strategies and milestones.

  • Optimize established internal communications: channels by developing metrics to improve effectiveness (e.g., reach, message and channel). Develop and deploy new channels to improve Associate reach, interaction and engagement. Develop content and implement leadership webcasts, cascades and messages (e.g., emails, toolkits, videos, speech writing), ensuring alignment with and delivery of business objectives/priorities.

  • Leadership Engagement: Grow existing strategy and channels to engage regional senior leader group within the organization and drive a culture of communications. Build relationships and connect with senior leaders to determine gaps/needs and create tools for helping them engage their teams. Enhance and execute the Line Manager Communications Training in partnership with the HR function. Work with regional senior leader group to enhance communications capabilities and drive line manager effectiveness

  • Change Communications: Partner with functional leaders to create and deploy business priorities and/or communicate change through strategies that are effectively tailored for specific audiences and consistently reinforced across business communications. Create and manage communications strategy, timeline and materials in partnership with agency support. Partner with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop key messages and inform communications approach.

External communication:

  • Build Corporate Reputation –Drive increased external visibility and thought leadership for our retail business, including relevant speaking engagements, partnerships, trade activity, and media opportunities. Equip our segments and markets to leverage reputation content and activate locally and ensure strong relationships with top markets.

  • Media Relations – Create a proactive strategy and process to build relationships with key media influencers across a range of channels that will generate news coverage. Run the global retail press office including reactive and proactive media engagement, stakeholder engagement. Manage agency on monitoring brand mentions and leads both proactive/reactive responses on behalf of brand. ·

  • Media/Stakeholder Issues Management – Work with Corporate Affairs teams (External Communications, Internal Communications, Public Affairs and U.S. businesses/segments) as needed to help manage Mars Inc. crisis with media and key stakeholders
