The HSE Specialist should champion the implementation of sustainable systems for incident management, hazard recognition, training, environmental compliance, and regulatory readiness. The position is specifically expected to support execution of the KIND High Point HSE Action Plan by converting priorities into practical programs, reliable data, effective training, completed corrective actions, and visible field engagement.

  • Assist the HSE Manager with translating the High Point HSE Action Plan into sequenced work plans, owners, milestones, deliverables, and recurring status reviews.
  • Maintain an audit-ready state by supporting compliance with company standards and applicable federal, state, and local AHJ requirements.
  • Track action items from audits, inspections, gap assessments, incident investigations, and safety observations through verification and validation of evidence for closure and escalate overdue or ineffective actions.
  • Support successful implementation of MARS Critical Life Saving Standards
  • Develop, update, and help institute site-specific HSE programs, procedures, tools, and records, by prioritization.
  • Provide expert counsel and leadership for the site alongside the HSE Manager.
  • Support effective root cause analysis using Human and Organizational Performance principles and approved investigation tools and coach investigation teams to identify causal factors and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Prepare recurring trend summaries that highlight leading and lagging indicators, PSIF/SIF events, overdue actions, and opportunities for prevention.
  • Championing a sustainable hazard-recognition process through routine factory presence, daily safety conversations, team-member engagement, and timely follow-up.
  • Help implement and sustain the MARS behavioral-based safety / CARES process, including quality observations, coaching, tracking, feedback, and trend review.
  • Support the transition of the current Safety Suggestion program into an overlapping Leading Indicator program
  • Support design and deployment of a site training matrix that links job titles, tasks, hazards, required qualifications, regulatory requirements, company standards, refresher frequencies, and completion status.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, site-specific training and communications that are clear, practical, and appropriate for the audience, including support for language and literacy needs.
  • Lead and maintain site environmental compliance activities involving air, stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention/control, hazardous and universal waste, and other applicable programs.
  • Coordinate required testing, inspections, records, reports, and corrective actions; promptly elevate actual or potential noncompliance.
  • Support HSE review of capital projects, non-capital modifications, new equipment, and Management of Change activities to identify and control risk during design phase and before startup.
  • Administer the site Contractor Safety program and reinforce project-manager accountability for contractor qualification, orientation, work controls, and field oversight.

What you’ll bring…

  • Strong written and verbal communication, desire for organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build productive relationships, work cross-functionally, influence actions and decisions across functions even when direct reporting authority does not exist, and manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing manufacturing environment
  • Practical problem-solving skills, willingness to serve as a subject matter expert for complex problems, and the judgment to recognize, communicate, and escalate significant HSE risk.
  • High comfort level developing and delivering training, coaching, presentations, and field communications for audiences at all levels.
  • Commitment to respectful engagement, learning, accountability, and creating a kinder workplace.
  • Diligence for order in a rapidly changing and multi-tasking environment
