Data and Analytics is foundational to our Petcare OGSM and will drive our transformation to a business that is powered by data. To deliver on this ambition set by this OGSM we require the very highest level of technical / engineering expertise within Global Petcare D&A. There is a need to expand this high-performing team of creative, skilled individuals – to help build out new capabilities and bring fresh ideas to the table.
What are we looking for?
Degree level OR equivalent demonstrated through work experience. Nice to have – Masters / Degree with some computing, scientific, statistical or mathematical component
Extensive experience working with data, data models, and data systems in support of marketing technology (MarTech), e.g. CMS, CDPs, identity resolution/SSO
Extensive experience using MarTech-related data to derive insights and better understand consumers
Hands-on data engineering/development experience, preferably in a cloud/big data environment
Skilled in at least one of Python, PySpark, SQL or similar
Experience in guiding or managing roles in insight or data functions, delivering data projects and insight to inspire action and drive benefits.
Experience leading the development of full end-to-end data engineering projects
Able to manage expectations in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment and deliver excellence
Design of solutions that subscribe to robust and agile technical frameworks and standards
Passion for working creatively with interesting, innovative data
The capacity to manage, mentor and coach data engineers of varying levels of experience
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to new software and techniques
Nice to Have
Experience working with projects in Apache Spark, Databricks of similar
Expert cloud platform knowledge, e.g. Azure
What will be your key responsibilities?
A technical expert and leader on the Petcare D&A Platform, helping build the foundations for a better understanding of pets and pet-owners
Manage, mentor, coach, develop and inspire a team of enthusiastic data engineers
Lead a multi-disciplinary, matrix team that is responsible for delivering Personalization Engine & associated Data Models across Mars Petcare
Partner with Product Management and Delivery functions to evaluate business requirements whilst thinking like the end user and translating these requests into technical requirements.
Collaborate with other Data Models Leads to develop data models for global Petcare products, ensuring consistency, scalability, and governance
This role will create and maintain the roadmap and vision for building, maintaining, and optimizing Media Data Models (including integrating new data sources and ensuring quality and governance) for use across Mars Petcare in a wide range of Analytics and Data Products
Engage with senior stakeholders as a primary contact for technical solutions. This role will require significant stakeholder management, working across broader D&A teams and functions, a deep understanding of MarTech/CDPs, and an ability to grasp and deliver towards the bigger picture with data
Other key responsibilities include:
Take technical ownership of engineering projects and products
Lead, design, engineer & orchestrate data products & pipelines in a cloud environment using a progressive tech stack
Drive best practices and innovation across the team and wider department
Take accountability & ownership for technical frameworks, processes and best practices which allow engineers of all levels to build extensible, performant and maintainable solutions
Manage cross-team and stakeholder relationships to drive collaboration and meet shared goals
