The Transport Supervisor – Linehaul Operations is responsible for supervising and coordinating dedicated transport operations, including long-distance and regional linehaul transport activities, to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective delivery performance. The role focuses on route execution, dedicated fleet operations, customer service delivery, fleet productivity, driver management, and operational performance across the transport network.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Supervise daily dedicated transport and linehaul activities and ensure all loads are dispatched and delivered according to schedule.

  • Coordinate vehicle scheduling, route planning, and load allocations.

  • Monitor fleet movement and ensure maximum vehicle utilisation and operational efficiency.

  • Track delivery performance and proactively manage delays or operational disruptions.

  • Liaise with customers, branches, drivers, and operational teams to ensure smooth execution of deliveries.

  • Ensure adherence to service level agreements and delivery timeframes.

Fleet & Driver Supervision

  • Supervise drivers and transport crews to ensure compliance with operational standards.

  • Conduct driver briefings regarding routes, schedules, safety, and customer requirements.

  • Monitor driver performance, fuel consumption, and trip productivity.

  • Ensure vehicle inspections and maintenance requirements are completed timeously.

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, breakdowns, and non-conformance issues.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with road traffic legislation, company procedures, and transport safety standards.

  • Monitor compliance with driving hours, vehicle loading limits, and documentation requirements.

  • Promote safe driving practices and operational discipline.

  • Ensure all transport documentation and PODs are completed accurately.

Customer Service

  • Maintain professional communication with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Address delivery issues, customer complaints, and operational challenges effectively.

  • Ensure service excellence and customer satisfaction are maintained.

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare operational reports, fleet utilisation reports, and KPI summaries.

  • Monitor fuel usage, route efficiency, and operational costs.

  • Maintain accurate records of trips, deliveries, incidents, and driver performance.

  • Support the Transport Manager in identifying operational improvement opportunities

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Someone with:

  • Grade 12 / Matric.

  • Diploma or qualification in Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management will be advantageous.

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in transport operations, preferably in linehaul or long-distance transport.

  • Experience in fleet coordination, route planning, and driver supervision.

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and transport management systems.

  • Valid driver’s license.
