The Position

Maersk is seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join our team as a Shift Supervisor.

The position will be based at our new and exciting Maersk Coolstore, located strategically at the Ruakura Superhub in land port, this position offers a rare opportunity to support and stand up a new team in a cutting edge environmentally friendly Greenstar rated facility servicing New Zealand’s primary industry sector.

As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our logistics department while leading and motivating a team of talented individuals.

Supervisors oversee shipping and logistics teams and activities for facilities. They are responsible for managing and coordinating all activities within a warehouse to work together seamlessly and efficiently. This role owns receiving and shipping orders, reviewing logistics, leading the relevant operational teams, working with the administration/planning teams, ensuring warehouse equipment is maintained and the highest safety standards are maintained. This role also focuses on problem solving to ensure KPI expectations are met and ensure shipments are delivered to the customer as per agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the logistics department, including receiving, warehousing, and shipping activities.
  • Coordinate and allocate resources effectively to meet operational goals and deadlines.
  • Manage work schedules and absence exceptions
  • Issue both written and verbal instructions to the team
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety procedures and regulations to ensure a secure and safe working environment.
  • Train, mentor, and provide ongoing guidance to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and managers to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to workflow.
  • Identifying trends and recommending improvements for increased efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records at all times
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking opportunities to optimize processes and implement best practices.

We are looking for

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Warehouse Systems
  • Operational Warehouse Supervision skills
  • Experienced with MPI requirements for Primary Industries
  • Communication and relationship building across all levels
  • Ability to lead, direct and motivate within the team to hit operational targets
  • People management skills, and a focus on collaboration
  • Employment Law knowledge –Basic
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including receiving, warehousing and shipping procedures
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
