Job Description

Please note: This is a full-time office-based role (5 days/week).

About the Role

Maersk is looking for a Senior Platform Product Owner to join the Asset Strategy and Strategic Partnerships (ASSP) team, driving the transformation of how Procurement plans, sources, and manages spend across a multi-billion-dollar portfolio.

This is fundamentally a product management role. You will own problem discovery, translate ambiguous business pain points into sized, prioritized opportunities, and design platform solutions that procurement teams actually adopt.

You will work according to the Maersk 3P (Product, Process, Platform) Development Framework, partnering closely with engineering, UX, and business stakeholders to take ideas from problem statement to production, measured by real adoption and value delivered, not just features shipped.

This role sits within a portfolio spanning Category Strategy, Sourcing, Contract Lifecycle Management, and Vendor Management platforms, supporting procurement teams across Ocean Terminals, Chartering, Logistics & Services, APM Terminals, Ocean Asset Partnerships, and Corporate Procurement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Discover and frame problems: run structured discovery with procurement stakeholders to surface real pain points, distinguishing symptoms from root causes, and articulate clear, evidence-backed problem statements.
  • Size the opportunity: quantify the business impact of a problem (spend under management, cycle time, compliance risk, cost leakage) before committing engineering capacity, so prioritization is grounded in value, not volume of requests.
  • Design the solution, not just the backlog: lead solution design end-to-end: user journeys, workflow redesign, build-vs-buy trade-offs, and MVP scoping, working hand-in-hand with UX and engineering.
  • Own the product roadmap for your platform track, balancing new capability development against technical debt and platform stability.
  • Define and track outcome-based KPIs (adoption, cycle-time reduction, spend coverage, user satisfaction), not just delivery velocity, and be accountable for them.
  • Manage and prioritize the backlog, writing clear requirements and acceptance criteria that a distributed engineering team can build against.
  • Drive adoption, not just go-live. Partner with change management and business product owners to ensure the platform is actually used, and iterate based on real-world usage data.
  • Engage stakeholders across levels, from category managers and platform directors up to functional leadership, translating technical trade-offs into business language and vice versa.
  • Make deliberate trade-offs on time-to-market vs. scope vs. quality, and communicate those trade-offs transparently.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have

  • Demonstrated product management experience and mindset. You think in problems and outcomes before solutions and outputs. This is non-negotiable and weighted above domain background.
  • A track record of taking a fuzzy business problem, sizing its impact, and shipping a solution that was actually adopted. Able to walk through a concrete example end-to-end.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and influencing without direct authority across business, engineering, and UX.
  • Data-driven decision-making. Comfortable defining KPIs and using data (not opinion) to prioritize.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Good to Have

  • Experience within a Procurement function (Category Strategy, Sourcing, Contract Management, or Vendor Management). Helpful for ramp-up, but not a substitute for product management skill.
  • Experience with landside logistics/transportation, particularly spot-buying of trucking lanes and services. Exposure to spot-market dynamics, freight procurement platforms, or transportation management systems (TMS) is a strong plus given planned platform expansion into this space.
  • Familiarity with agile/scrum ways of working and tools (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent).
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS or platform ecosystems (e.g., sourcing tools, CLM, vendor portals).

What We Offer

You'll join a team leading one of the most consequential digital transformations in global procurement, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders, real ownership of platform outcomes, and the opportunity to shape how a $20B+ spend organization sources, contracts, and manages its supply base.
