The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Merchandiser to drive growth in Frey’s producer origination book across the Baltimore, Maryland draw territory. In this role, you will be responsible for profitably originating grains and oilseeds into Frey’s transload facility at the Seagirt Marine Terminal. You will play a critical role in managing domestic trade flows, FOB truck execution, quality oversight, and coordination with Ports America operations, while acting as a key commercial partner to our Grains and Oilseeds trading and logistics teams.This is a hands-on, commercial role suited for a market-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, data-informed environment and enjoys building strong external partnerships while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Originate, negotiate, and execute domestic grain and oilseed trade flows into Frey’s transload facility at Seagirt Marine Terminal, Baltimore.
- Book, negotiate, and manage FOB truck flows into the facility, ensuring efficient and profitable execution.
- Monitor inbound and outbound product quality and provide clear instructions to Ports America operations on segregation and blending strategies.
- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with farmers, suppliers, customers, brokers, warehouses, processors, and logistics partners within the region.
- Share market intelligence and commercial insights with export traders within the Grains and Oilseeds vertical.
- Coordinate closely with logistics teams to ensure seamless booking execution and operational alignment.
- Prepare and deliver weekly updates covering market developments, trading activity, risks, opportunities, and performance related to Baltimore transload activities.
- Enter contracts, hedge futures, manage pricing, and oversee net position exposure in close coordination with the broader commercial team.
Who We Are Looking For

- Experience in agricultural merchandising, grain and oilseed trading, or commodity origination.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate, manage risk, and execute trades profitably.
- Working knowledge of FOB truck logistics, transload operations, and quality management practices.
- A relationship-driven mindset with the ability to engage confidently with farmers and external partners.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across trading, logistics, and operations teams.
- A data-driven and entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Practical Information
- Location: Baltimore, MD (on-site at or supporting Seagirt Marine Terminal operations)
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Salary Range: USD 75,000–95,000 (final compensation aligned with experience and internal equity)
- Travel: Limited, as required for supplier and operational engagement
