Are you our new HSEQ and Onboard Training Manager?

We Offer

As the HSEQ and Onboard Training Manager, you will lead and manage the Onboard Training as a strategic product offering of Maersk Training across different countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) along with HSEQ. The role carries full responsibility for execution, operational performance, and personnel management, ensuring service excellence and alignment with regional business objectives. You will be supported by the OBT coordinator in the planning and execution of the back-end work.

This will require being based full-time in our office in Chennai, India and managing stakeholders across different geographies through digital communication. This role will report to the Managing Director of AMEA based in UAE and dotted line reporting to the Head of Operations for AMEA based in Chennai.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of OBT instructors (inhouse) as well as consultants

    • Coordinate and oversee training plans with instructors for each offshore assignment.

    • Ensure all pre-joining requirements and documentation are completed in coordination with instructors.

    • Align training requirements, reporting systems, and deliverables between instructors and clients.

    • Review and consolidate daily onboard training reports.

    • Coordinate submission and review of end-of-tour reports, timesheets, and invoices from instructors.

    • Lead continuous sourcing and development of instructors & Consultants across the AMEA region.

    • Coordinate with other Maersk Training regions to source consultants and instructors as required for delivery.

    • Pursue continuous professional development to maintain required qualifications and competencies.

  • Customer engagement:

    • Prepare and manage Purchase Order (PO) estimates in line with project requirements.

    • Liaise with clients and/or their agents to arrange visas, work permits, travel logistics, and accommodation for offshore deployments.

    • Evaluate client feedback reports and share insights with senior management for continuous improvement.

  • Quality control

    • Ensure regular upkeep and updating of course materials to maintain quality standards.

    • Conduct post-assignment debriefings with both clients and instructors to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Driving performance

    • Drive operational efficiency within the OBT business in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

    • Prepare and present monthly OBT performance reports, including operational and financial metrics.

    • Support commercial teams in developing competitive proposals to secure new business opportunities.

  • HSEQ

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, risk assessments, and established work instructions.

    • Promote and uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in all operational activities.

    • Identify and report safety concerns in a timely and responsible manner.

    • Liaise with business support functions to ensure effective backend support and certification processes.

    • Responsible for all QA related approvals as well as internal and external audits

We are looking for

  • You are an experienced professional in HSSE and / or Crew Manager

  • Knowledge about onboard training is an advantage

  • You have excellent communication skills

  • You are proficient in both written and verbal and English.

  • You have a solid experience with MS Office programs, SharePoint and data disciplined

  • Experience and knowledge about ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 is an advantage

  • You have knowledge about safety training standards from OPITO, IWCF, IADC or other related training standards
