Purpose Of the Role:

Overall responsible for the employer branding, recruitment, onboarding, legal compliance, contract issuance, performance development and other general people related activities of all seafarers under the designated Asia region, aligned to the company and department vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, motivate and develop the teams who provide comprehensive operation support to the seafarers, in delivering the Marine People and Culture team strategy, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Building relationships with Maritime Fraternity in India to enable furthering of company's goal and to enhance visibility.

  • Overall responsible for SLAs, performance, KPIs and audits related to Marine People Asia team.

  • Handling of Advertisements, sponsorship & related work such as negotiations with service providers where necessary.

  • Ensuring that selection of marine personnel to vessels of the A.P. Moller- Maersk group should be in line with the Group's s standards and comply with National and International requirements. To recruit suitable and qualified seafarers in accordance with terms of the respective SLA.

  • Effective coordination of all tasks related to Marine People activities through close liaison with all departments in Marine People and Culture.

  • To establish and maintain effective cost control on all activities under purview.

  • Effective coordination and execution of various projects in which Marine People and Culture teams are involved.

  • Developing competencies and strengths in the team to support overall growth of the business.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong leadership profile with experience of 15yrs+, excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Good experience and understanding of the maritime business

  • Good understanding of HR related principle and compliance matters.

  • Experience of leading and developing teams to deliver an exceptional result to internal and external stakeholders.

Stakeholders:

Internal:

  • Head of Crewing – Ensure compliance requirements are met and local variances are communicated to enable smooth embarkations and crew changes.

  • Head of Marine People (EUR/PH) – Ensure alignment in approach, policies, and execution across all Marine People functions.

  • Head of Marine People Strategy – Ensure the Marine People and Culture Strategy is created in collaboration, and the agreed strategy is executed.

External:

  • Director General of Shipping, India – Collaborate with DGS to ensure all seafarer policy and administration related matters are formulated and executed with seafarers and Maersk’s interests.

  • Chairman of MASSA/MTRF – Collaborate with MASSA/MTRF on all industry matters relating to employment, training and welfare of seafarers.

  • Chancellor of AMET University – Overview of development and implementation of Maersk Center of Excellence Cadet program.
