This role will ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations across WCSA while supporting the standardization and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System. This role acts as a key interface between area operations, HSE teams, and regulatory bodies, combining technical expertise with strong operational insight to drive excellence in compliance, performance, and safety culture.
Key responsibilities:
Monitor, interpret, and apply HSE legal and regulatory requirements in Peru, Chile, and Ecuador.
Ensure timely submission of mandatory documentation and reports.
Conduct compliance audits and risk assessments across area operations.
Proactively identify potential breaches and implement mitigation plans.
Ensure new projects and business activities are compliant with local regulations and Maersk standards from initiation.
Support the deployment and continuous improvement of the Global HSE Management Framework.
Coordinate regional standardization of policies, processes, tools (e.g., Fatal5, Human Risks), and campaigns.
Provide HSSE guidance to site and area managers to ensure effective implementation of policies and controls.
Conduct training and coaching sessions to increase regulatory and process compliance awareness.
Lead or support investigations into safety or environmental incidents.
Ensure legal reporting obligations are fulfilled and corrective actions tracked and closed.
Act as the liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Promote the use of Lean methodologies, innovation and process improvement techniques to enhance HSE performance.Contribute to CAPEX and OPEX budget control for HSE initiatives.
We are looking for:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
3 to 5 years of experience in HSE roles.
In-depth knowledge of local HSE legislation in Peru, Chile, and Ecuador.
Experience conducting audits and interfacing with authorities.
Proven record in deploying HSE management systems and compliance strategies.
Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal) – English is a must.
Strong communication and influencing skills at all organizational levels.
Availability to travel regionally as required.
Desirable:
Certification or working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and applicable HSE standards.
PMP certification or strong knowledge of project management methodologies.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
