Job Description

Are you a student in business, political science, economics, international relations, or a related field, and are you interested in how global regulation and geopolitics shape international business? Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world policy challenges? Then a part-time Student Assistant position in Maersk’s Global Public Affairs team might be of interest to you.

About the role
You will join the Regulatory and Institutional Relations team, working primarily on EU, International Maritime Organization, and other international regulatory matters. You will support Maersk’s engagement with governments, regulators, and international organisations at a time where global trade, security and energy policy are high on the political agenda.

The position is a student role with an average of 20 hours per week, offering flexibility alongside your studies.

Key responsibilities
As part of the team, you will contribute to our work at the intersection of business and policy. Typical tasks include:

• Conduct desk research and analysis on regulatory and political developments, particularly related to the EU, IMO, and broader international frameworks
• Support preparation of power points, briefing materials, talking points, and background notes for senior management and external engagements
• Assist in monitoring and analysing legislative developments impacting Maersk’s business, including shipping security, energy transition and international trade
• Contribute to the development of positions and advocacy materials on key regulatory topics
• Support planning and coordination of external engagements, including high-level meetings and visits
• Help ensure structured and well-organised team processes, with strong attention to detail
• Assist with admin, ad hoc tasks and projects across the team

Why join Maersk
By joining Maersk, you will become part of a global leader in integrated logistics and gain first-hand insight into how a multinational company navigates complex regulatory landscapes. You will work closely with experienced colleagues in a fast-paced, international environment and develop a strong understanding of global policy-making processes.

You will also become part of Maersk’s student network in Copenhagen, offering both professional and social opportunities.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for a motivated and structured student with a strong interest in regulatory and political affairs.

• You are preferably in the final year of your bachelor’s degree or at the beginning of your master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. political science, economics, business, or international relations)
• You have a strong interest in EU policy, international regulation, and global institutions such as the IMO
• You demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex topics into clear insights
• You work in a structured and detail-oriented manner
• You are proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
• You are fluent in English

Bring your curiosity, drive, and willingness to learn, and you will gain valuable experience at the intersection of global business and policy.

The position is based at our Copenhagen headquarters and offers flexibility to accommodate your studies.

Maersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking. Maersk is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants without regard to race, colour, gender, sex, age, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, medical condition, pregnancy or parental leave, veteran status, gender identity, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
