Job Description

Maersk is a global expert in integrated logistics and has been an industry pioneer for over a century. Through innovation and transformation, we are redefining the boundaries of what’s possible, continuously setting new standards for efficiency, sustainability, and excellence. At Maersk, we believe in the power of diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning and we work hard to ensure that the people in our organisation reflect and understand the customers we exist to serve. With over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we work together to shape the future of global trade and logistics.

Are you passionate about investments, financial modelling, and strategic decision-making?

Maersk's Fleet Investments finance team is looking for a student assistant to support investment decisions involving some of the world's largest shipping assets. You will work alongside a team of experienced finance professionals on real investment cases, financial analyses, and strategic projects that influence billion-dollar investment decisions.

As part of Asset Strategy Finance, the Fleet Investments team plays a central role in evaluating investments, divestments, and other strategic asset transactions, such as asset flips, option execution, and sale-and-leasebacks, across Maersk's global fleet. The team develops financial models, analyses, and investment recommendations that are presented directly to senior management and support some of the company's most significant capital allocation decisions.

This position offers a unique opportunity to combine investment analysis, corporate finance, and strategic decision-making while gaining exposure to senior stakeholders across one of the world's largest logistics companies. The role offers significant opportunities for professional development and the advancement of your analytical skill set.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the development, review, and quality assurance of financial models used to evaluate investments, divestments, and other strategic asset transactions
  • Prepare high-quality presentation materials and investment cases for executive stakeholders
  • Support the planning and execution of annual business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Coordinate analyses and follow-up activities across multiple stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and investment projects
  • Perform ad hoc financial and business analyses for stakeholders across Asset Strategy and the wider Maersk organisation

The successful candidate:

  • Is pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field with a focus on economics, finance, or investments in a Danish University as the role is based out of Copenhagen and can work 15-20 hours in a week.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills and has a genuine interest in investments, corporate finance, and financial analysis
  • Is proactive, self-driven, and comfortable taking ownership of tasks and projects
  • Is a team player with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Prior experience with financial modelling and investment analysis is considered an asset but not a requirement to apply for the role
  • Is fluent in written and spoken English. Danish is not a requirement

What you will gain:

  • Hands-on experience with investment analysis supporting large-scale capital allocation decisions
  • Practical exposure to financial modelling, valuation, and strategic finance
  • Direct collaboration with experienced finance professionals and business stakeholders across the business
  • A steep learning curve with the opportunity to take responsibility and ownership from day one
  • A strong foundation for future career opportunities within Maersk, corporate finance, investments, or strategy
