Direction Setting Manager- Mississauga, Canada
The Opportunity
The Direction Setting Manager (DSM) drives short-term commercial focus and sales execution within the Direct Transport Sales (DTS) channel. This role ensures that frontline sales teams prioritize the right products, customers, and corridors over the next four weeks—maximizing asset utilization, accelerating product growth, and enabling agile collaboration between Product and Sales.
The DSM develops and executes the commercial action plan that aligns DTS sales efforts with Product needs and Area growth ambitions, ensuring the DTS channel delivers measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Action Plan Development
• Translate Product guidance into a clear, actionable
short-term commercial plan.
• Prioritize focus corridors, customer segments, and product
opportunities based on capacity needs and growth targets.
• Align plans with Area DTS leadership and Product
Managers.
• Cascade weekly targets and actions to DTS sales teams
through the Direction Setting Broadcast.
Performance Monitoring
• Track weekly progress on pipeline, bookings, and actuals
across Ocean and TbM products.
• Identify key customers (e.g., churn risk, downtrading, high
potential, new leads) for targeted sales follow-up.
• Adjust the action plan based on performance data, market
insights, and sales feedback.
Stakeholder Communication
• Provide weekly updates to DTS sales teams, Product
Managers, and Sales Leaders.
• Maintain open communication channels to ensure
alignment, transparency, and trust.
• Share structured feedback from sales to Product teams to
support continuous improvement.
Adaptability & Market Responsiveness
• Monitor market trends, product updates, and capacity
changes.
• Identify risks early and collaborate with Product and Sales
Leadership to mitigate them.
• Ensure the DTS channel remains agile and responsive to
short-term commercial needs.
Results Orientation
• Drive accountability and sales intensity across DTS teams.
• Ensure weekly targets are realistic, understood, and actively
pursued.
• Celebrate wins and maintain high engagement within the
sales organization.
Required experience & skills
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• +5 years of external sales or account management
experience in transportation and logistics.
• Proficiency in Salesforce.com and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and process-design thinking
• Commercial acumen and understanding of ocean & logistics
products
• Ability to influence without authority
• Proactive initiative and action orientation

$85,000.00 - $105,000.00 CAD + OMBP

The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
