
Country Finance Manager ET & DJ
Job Description
The Country Finance Manager serves as the primary finance partner for Ethiopia and Djibouti, providing financial leadership, governance, and operational oversight across the two countries. The role acts as the key finance representative for local stakeholders while collaborating closely with Global Service Centres (GSC), Finance Business Partners (FBPs), and regional finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and effective financial planning. The incumbent will drive country finance priorities, support business decision-making, and ensure adherence to both local statutory requirements and global finance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Finance Lead for Ethiopia and Djibouti, partnering with country leadership and business stakeholders.
- Lead and coordinate country finance operations while providing direction to offshore finance teams and ensuring timely delivery of finance activities.
- Collaborate with the Global Service Centre (GSC) Account-to-Report (ATR) team to ensure accurate and timely financial close, reporting, and accounting deliverables.
- Partner with the Third-Party Accounting (TPA) team to ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and resolved on time.
- Provide oversight of balance sheet integrity, ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal policies.
- Support rolling forecast (RoFo) processes by providing country-level financial insights, analysis, and reporting.
- Work closely with Finance Business Partners (FBPs) to improve financial visibility and support informed business decisions.
- Monitor and drive key finance health metrics, including Internal Control Performance (ICP), ensuring timely resolution of identified gaps.
- Conduct onsite control reviews and assess the effectiveness of financial controls, identifying opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with Local GAAP, IFRS, and company accounting policies.
- Promote best practices in accounting, governance, compliance, and financial controls across the country organization.
- Contribute to the execution of area finance strategies, transformation initiatives, and continuous process improvement efforts.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Proven experience in finance, accounting, or controllership roles within a multinational or complex business environment.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, balance sheet management, reconciliations, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and Local GAAP requirements.
- Experience partnering with shared service centres and cross-functional stakeholders across multiple geographies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while influencing stakeholders across different functions and levels.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills is an advantage.
