Job Description

About the Role

The Cluster Accounting Manager is a key finance leadership role responsible for the timely closure of books, accurate financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations for the assigned cluster. This role directly leads and manages the accounting team, ensures compliance with statutory and group requirements, and acts as a primary point of contact for senior finance stakeholders across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting:

  • Own and ensure the timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for assigned entities.

  • Review and approve Balance Sheet, P&L, accruals, SG&A, and budget variance analyses.

  • Ensure high-quality financial reporting in line with IFRS / local GAAP and group policies.

  • Conduct detailed balance sheet reviews, ensuring integrity, reconciliation accuracy, and issue resolution.

  • Lead and execute external audits, including coordination, documentation, review, and response to audit queries.

  • Be accountable for statutory accounting and local compliance requirements.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, ensuring clear ownership, accountability, and performance management.

  • Own and monitor team KPIs and finance objectives for L&S entities.

  • Support the team in day-to-day operational and accounting decisions.

  • Drive consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across accounting processes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the first point of contact for all accounting-related matters for the cluster.

  • Engage closely with CFO, Finance Managers, Country Managers, and senior stakeholders on:

    • Financial performance

    • Reporting outcomes

    • Risk and compliance topics

  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Controls, Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure effective execution and sign-off of internal controls and compliance checks (IFRS, local GAAP, COSO / RICC frameworks).

  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of findings.

  • Promote a strong control, risk, and compliance culture within the team.

Operational & Process Oversight

  • Oversee end-to-end accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Support controlling activities, including close coordination to enable smooth month-end processes.

  • Review and validate accounting deliverables before final submission.

  • Drive process standardization and best practices across entities and peer groups.

Approvals & Signatory Responsibilities

  • Act as signatory for:

    • Payments

    • Foreign exchange

    • Remittances

  • Ensure adherence to delegation of authority and internal governance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 2–3 years in people management.

  • Hands-on experience with accounts finalization, consolidation, audits, and statutory reporting.

  • Solid understanding of IFRS, internal controls, and risk frameworks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced English (written and spoken).

  • Strong leadership and independent decision-making capability.

  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders and operate in a matrixed, international environment.

  • High attention to detail with a strong ownership mindset.

  • Proven ability to deliver results through teams and manage multiple priorities.
