Job Description
APM Terminals
Appetizer
APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) is one of the world’s most advanced and highly automated container terminals, strategically located in the Port of Rotterdam. As part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group and the global APM Terminals network, we actively contribute to enabling global trade and fostering sustainable economic growth.
At MVII, Finance plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of the world’s most advanced automated terminals. We are in a phase of significant growth and transformation, including a EUR 1bn expansion, where Finance is at the centre of strategic decision-making.
This is not a “business-as-usual” accounting role. We are looking for a high-potential accounting professional ready to step up, take ownership, and help build a best-in-class finance function in a business that is scaling rapidly.
What sets MVII apart is our culture of innovation, safety and operational excellence. The Lean methodology is deeply embedded in our way of working – from continuous process improvement to cross-functional teamwork at ground level. At MVII, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking, data-driven environment built on continuous improvement. Join us and contribute to a terminal that sets the global benchmark.
With over 500 employees and strong global backing, MVII offers the opportunity to grow with the business and make real impact from day one.
What We Can Offer
At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.
A high-impact role early in your career where you influence key financial and strategic decisions
Exposure to complex accounting topics (JV structures, statutory reporting, governance, large-scale investments)
Direct involvement in a EUR 1bn expansion project
A fast-moving environment where you can build, improve, and shape processes
Strong development opportunities within a global Maersk / APM Terminals finance network
A collaborative, international environment driven by Lean and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
As Terminal Accounting Manager, you will combine technical accounting excellence with business partnering and ownership.
You will:
Own and ensure accurate and compliant statutory and financial reporting
Lead month-end and year-end processes in collaboration with the Shared Service Centre
Coordinate and manage internal and external audits
Ensure compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements
Act as finance partner in joint venture and shareholder governance topics
Oversee cash flow, banking, and financing structures
Drive improvements in process efficiency, controls, and reporting quality
Support and develop a small accounting team (partly remote)
What We Are Looking For
We are deliberately targeting high-potential professionals (5–8 years experience) who are ready for a next step.
You likely bring:
Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.
A strong accounting foundation, ideally gained in Big 4, or in industry (e.g. logistics, energy, terminals, tank storage like Vopak)
Experience with statutory reporting, audits, and compliance
The ambition to move beyond execution into ownership and impact
The ability to operate in a dynamic, evolving environment
Profile
5–8 years of experience in accounting, audit, or finance
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar (RA / CPA is a plus, not a must)
Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP / IFRS, audit processes, and controls
Experience in complex or regulated environments is a plus
Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable with ambiguity
Clear communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
Fluent in English and Dutch (must have)
