APM Terminals

The CFO of APM Terminals Mumbai is a core member of the Senior Management Team and a trusted strategic partner to the Managing Director and cross-functional leaders.

The role leads financial strategy, governance, and commercial decision-making to drive strong performance, disciplined risk management, and sustainable long-term value creation.

This position is ideal for an experienced finance leader with strong commercial acumen, a collaborative leadership style, and a solid understanding of terminal operations, shipping, or other capital-intensive industries. You will shape business direction, influence at the highest levels, and build high-performing, diverse finance teams in a collaborative matrix environment. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate interest in pursuing a continued international career within APM Terminals.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • Leads all financial activities for the organization with a focus on sustainable growth, long-term stability, and responsible profitability, in full compliance with external regulations and internal governance standards.
  • Partners with leaders and teams across the business to provide clear, trusted financial guidance that supports confident, well-informed decision-making at every level.
  • Builds and enables high-performing, diverse finance teams, and ensures robust systems, processes, and internal controls are in place to deliver accurate, transparent, and cost-efficient financial reporting and transactions.
  • Drives long-term value creation through strategic capital planning and thoughtful risk management.
  • Plays an active leadership role within terminal management by encouraging diverse perspectives, constructively challenging the status quo, and delivering practical, forward-looking solutions.
  • Enable the business to maximize value from resources whilst ensuring compliance. Inspire, manage, motivate, and coach employees and support cross-functional communication and collaboration. Develop finance talent pipeline both at terminal and GSC.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Finance Operations & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of all financial transactions across Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Accounting-to-Report, and Planning processes.
  • Lead timely monthly and annual financial closings.
  • Review and sign off on P&L, cost performance, SG&A, and CAPEX vs. forecast.
  • Drive performance through KPI monitoring, financial analysis, and cash flow management.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Deliver data-driven insights and external benchmarks to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Own forecasting, budgeting, and capital expenditure planning with high accuracy and transparency.
  • Set ambitious yet realistic financial targets and clearly communicate risks and opportunities.

Capital & Investment Management

  • Review and approve business cases and investments prior to management approval.
  • Monitor project delivery, savings, spend, and investment risks, escalating delays or overruns as required.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure reliable, compliant financial reporting and a robust internal control framework.
  • Lead internal and external audits, tax compliance, insurance, treasury coordination, and enterprise risk management.

Strategic Business Partnering & Leadership

  • Drive finance transformation, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performance finance team across terminal and shared services.
  • Lead business intelligence and digital analytics for management decision-making.
  • Act as a key member of terminal management and primary finance stakeholder to HQ, partners, and the Board.

JV Management and JNPA support

  • Works in close partnership with the CEO (JV Partner) and Deputy CFO—both nominees of CONCOR—to ensure strong alignment on financial governance, performance, and decision-making.
  • Ensures timely, accurate, and transparent financial information and reporting to JNPA in line with Joint Venture and Concession Agreement requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Chartered Accountant, with at least 12-15 years’ experience, Financial Business Partnering or Controlling on Business Unit or Group Level.
  • Prior experience as a CFO in a mid-sized organization is an advantage, but strong readiness for the role is equally valued.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS, Indian tax laws, FEMA, the Companies Act, and corporate compliance frameworks.
  • Proven expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, and accounting operations.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to shape and drive business-wide strategic initiatives.
  • An influential leader who goes beyond finance—able to present insights with clarity, advise with confidence, and support sound decision-making through accurate and timely analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformation, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong and respectful negotiation capability, with confidence to represent the business at senior levels.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across all levels in a matrix organization.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and energized by dynamic, evolving environments.
  • A proven people leader with a strong track record in coaching, developing, and empowering diverse talent.
  • A role model for collaboration, customer orientation, agility, and people-centered leadership.
  • A resilient and adaptable leader with experience working in complex or challenging environments.
  • Experience in the container shipping industry or related capital-intensive sectors is an added advantage, along with the ability to engage effectively with shipping partners and associated stakeholders.
  • Proven experience complex multi-stakeholder environments.
