Job Description

Role Overview

As a Category Buyer – Services, you will play a pivotal role in the procurement of marine services related to drydocking, retrofits, and other vessel-related operational needs. This position is part of a global procurement team and is responsible for executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective service delivery. You will work closely with stakeholders across internal teams like technical, operational, and finance and external teams like shipyards, agents and service providers. This role is ideal for professionals with solid procurement experience who are ready to take ownership of operational buying responsibilities while supporting strategic initiatives and managing the category for Drydocking & Retrofits Services.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Execution & Process Management

  • Own the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (PTP) process for assigned vessels and service categories, ensuring compliance with internal policies and timely execution.
  • Conduct Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, delivery timelines, and service quality.
  • Validate supplier offers against frame agreement terms, ensuring commercial alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Handle invoice settlement and ensure timely resolution in collaboration with suppliers and technical teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Act as a key point of contact for technical and operational stakeholders, understanding service requirements and translating them into procurement actions.
  • Address stakeholder concerns with urgency and professionalism, proposing solutions in complex and time-sensitive situations.
  • Represent the procurement team in operational forums, sharing insights and feedback to improve cross-functional collaboration.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Support supplier performance evaluations, including delivery reliability, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
  • Participate in contract management activities for service supplier agreements, ensuring terms are adhered to and performance is tracked.
  • Identify and propose new suppliers based on market intelligence and delivery experience, contributing to global coverage and risk diversification.

Data Analysis & Process Optimization

  • Utilize procurement and performance data to identify efficiency opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with master data teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity, supporting reporting and decision-making.
  • Contribute to automation and digitalization efforts, leveraging tools and systems to streamline procurement operations.

Sustainability & Compliance

  • Ensure all procurement activities support Maersk’s carbon neutrality goals, including supplier selection and logistics optimization.
  • Maintain strict adherence to compliance standards, including ethical sourcing, documentation, and audit readiness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Relevant procurement experience, preferably in marine, industrial services, or logistics sectors.
  • Familiarity with data dashboards and Excel-based reporting.
  • Experience in the marine industry or vessel operations is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across cultures and functions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving, continuous improvement, and results.
  • Team-oriented and working as one with stakeholders across Maersk.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
