About the role
In this role, you will be playing a key part in delivering an ambitious greenfield project. Here are some of the things the role involves:
Build event driven applications and microservice-based APIs that get consumed by other platforms within Maersk.
Implement the functionality behind each module for whom the API (or event schema) is determined up front working with our collaborators.
Work on applications that handle a huge amount of data, hence have a lot of focus on scalability and reliability.
Have secure practices built into the application from the ground up, including automated security checks.
Ensure hygiene practices like clean code, test coverage, performance checks etc. are continuously maintained and are gated with automated checks.
Ensure applications emit standard signals needed for effective monitoring and alerting.
Actively participate in code reviews and encourage using it as a tool for the team members to learn from each other.
Contribute to a culture of continuous delivery where almost every single change goes to production on a continuous basis, and the path from code commit to going live is as automated as it can be.
Help create practices within the team that are inclusive of members working across geographies, time zones and cultures.
About you
Here are some things we expect from you for the role:
Be proficient with the JVM ecosystem, and have worked with Java or Kotlin for at least 3 years.
Be proficient writing well-tested application code using tools like JUnit.
Be proficient in analysing the algorithmic complexity of a given piece of code and capable of optimising when necessary.
Be knowledgeable about common design patterns, and exhibit good understanding about when to use them.
Have prior experience working with at least one application framework like Spring Boot.
Have prior experience working with at least one relational database and at least one NoSQL database.
Be familiar with observability concepts: logging, metrics, traces, alerts.
Be familiar with methods and concepts in the field of cloud computing and can put them into practice; have experience in at least one of the following: Azure, Google Cloud, AWS.
Be effective at written and spoken communication. Also exhibit the same in writing code that can be well understood by other developers.
Prior experience working with Kafka would be a bonus.
Prior experience working with containerised 12-factor apps, and tools like Docker and Kubernetes would be a bonus.
Having knowledge about the logistics and supply chain domain would be a bonus.

Designs, develops, tests, delivers, maintains and improves business applications as a member of a team. The software engineer can works across the full stack or be specialized in e.g. the frontend or the backend - through the entire software development lifecycle. Prioritizes efficient code production by using open-source frameworks and patterns.
