Job Description

Area Head of Sales - UK & Ireland

Lead the market. Shape how customers grow.

At Maersk, we’re on a bold journey to become the global integrator of logistics. Achieving this ambition requires more than moving cargo — it demands deep customer partnerships, integrated solutions, and commercial leadership that turns complexity into competitive advantage.

To lead this agenda across the UK & Ireland, we’re looking for a Area Head of Sales. This is a critical senior leadership role, responsible for setting the commercial direction of the area and enabling sustainable growth across all Maersk products and solutions.

The Role

As the Area Head of Sales for UK & Ireland, you will own the commercial agenda end to end — shaping strategy, leading execution, and building a high-performing sales organisation aligned with Maersk’s integrator ambition.

This role is not about managing transactions. It’s about leading transformation: moving from siloed selling to integrated, value-based solutions; from volume focus to profitable growth; and from individual performance to collective, customer-centric impact.

You will act as both strategic architect and hands-on leader — engaging senior customers, empowering teams, and ensuring disciplined execution across markets, segments, and industries.

We offer flexible working locations across the UK and Ireland, provided you are within reasonable commuting distance of a Maersk office.

What You Will Lead

Commercial & Sales Leadership (UK & Ireland)

  • Own all commercial and sales activity across the UK & Ireland, delivering sustainable growth across volume, revenue, and profitability. Define and execute an integrated, data-led sales strategy with full P&L ownership, strong execution discipline, and clear performance governance.

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Build senior, trusted customer relationships through consultative, value-based selling. Use market and customer insight to shape differentiated propositions, improve customer experience, and represent Maersk in complex negotiations. Anticipate industry, regulatory, and geopolitical shifts to guide strategy and influence product and solution priorities.

Stakeholder & Matrix Leadership

  • Partner effectively with regional and global stakeholders across a complex matrix organisation. Lead commercial transformation initiatives aligned with Maersk’s enterprise strategy.

People Leadership

  • Build and develop a high-performing, future-ready sales organisation through coaching, capability building, and succession planning, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and inclusion.

Accountabilities

  • Profitable, sustainable growth across the UK & Ireland
  • Execution of an integrated, value-based sales strategy
  • Strong customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term value creation
  • A high-performing, engaged sales organisation
  • Consistent commercial governance and execution discipline

What We’re Looking For

  • Senior commercial or sales leadership experience in complex environments
  • Proven success leading large sales organisations through transformation
  • Strong strategic selling, negotiation, and execution capability
  • Deep understanding of the UK & Ireland logistics market
  • Credibility at C-suite level and effectiveness in a global matrix

Why Maersk?

At Maersk, transformation is not optional — it’s foundational. We’re redefining how global trade works, moving from traditional logistics to fully integrated supply chain solutions.

This role sits at the forefront of that journey. You’ll shape how customers experience Maersk, how teams sell value, and how the UK & Ireland contributes to our global ambition. If you’re driven by impact, leadership, and the opportunity to shape the future of logistics — we’d love to hear from you.
