Accounting Manager – Maersk Air Cargo (Copenhagen)
Job Description
As Accounting Manager, you’ll be joining Maersk Air Cargo at a pivotal stage of transformation, where finance is being reshaped and building a more scalable, long-term setup.
From day one, you’ll have real ownership: stabilising accounting operations, improving processes, and helping transition activities into a global shared service model. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and play a visible role in shaping how finance operates going forward.
If you enjoy combining hands-on accounting, problem solving, and improving how things work, this is a role where you can make a genuine impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a broad, hands-on role where you will both run the numbers and improve how they are produced.
Core accounting & reporting
- Own the full close process — ensuring accurate and timely month-end reporting within tight timelines
- Manage general ledger activities including reconciliations, accruals, and provisions
- Prepare and review financial data submitted to Group Finance
Statutory accounting & audit
- Lead Danish statutory reporting and ensure compliance with local requirements
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits
- Ensure documentation and reconciliations are audit-ready
Day-to-day operational oversight
- Oversee key accounting activities such as vendor accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Work closely with shared service teams to ensure quality, accuracy, and service delivery
- Act as a key point of coordination between onshore finance and the global shared service centre
Transformation & process improvement
- Take over knowledge from external consultants and help transition work in-house
- Improve and structure processes before they move into the global shared service centre
- Identify inefficiencies and simplify ways of working, particularly around controls and reporting
Stakeholder & service leadership
- Act as a key link between shared services, Group Finance, and business stakeholders
- Build strong working relationships and help ensure effective collaboration across locations
- Constructively challenge processes and influence improvements where needed
Team leadership (evolving scope)
- Initially support and guide a small team
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across accounting activities
- Over time, shift focus toward stakeholder and service leadership as activities transition
What Will Set You Up for Success
We’re open to different backgrounds, but this role is likely a good match if you bring:
- Experience owning core accounting processes end-to-end
- Exposure to Danish statutory reporting and compliance
- Experience working in a large corporate or multinational environment, with an understanding of matrix structures
- Experience leading or working alongside shared services or outsourced finance teams, with an appreciation for how to manage service quality and collaboration
- Confidence working with stakeholders and navigating complexity
- A hands-on approach — comfortable getting into the detail when needed
- A mindset focused on improving processes, not just maintaining them
You don’t need to meet every requirement — if your experience is relevant and the role interests you, we encourage you to apply.
Apply for this role if you want:
- To Shape something new: Play a key role in building a more scalable finance setup
- Real ownership: Broad scope and visibility across a strategic business unit
- Transformation experience: Hands-on exposure to outsourcing, process improvement, and systems evolution
- Variety: A mix of technical accounting, stakeholder interaction, and change initiatives
- Growth potential: Evolving role with opportunities beyond traditional accounting paths
Additional Information
- Experience in aviation or asset-heavy industries can be helpful, but is not required
- Danish language is not essential; experience working with Danish accounting frameworks is more important
- This is an office-based role, requiring on-site presence five days per week
