Job Description
At Improbable, we build and scale ambitious ventures that shape the future of digital experiences. Our ventures bring together the worlds of sports, media, and entertainment and web 3.
We are now supporting an independent organisation building the foundations for the next generation of the internet. Their mission is to create open, decentralised technology that empowers developers, creators, and communities to build new kinds of immersive online experiences.
Their first major initiative is a next-generation blockchain designed for real-time, large-scale applications. Unlike traditional blockchains limited by speed and cost, our technology is fast, affordable, and fully EVM-compatible—capable of powering the kinds of social, gaming, and metaverse experiences that normally only run on Web2 infrastructure.
Ultimately, their aim is to unlock a true virtual society: a world where users and businesses can seamlessly move between platforms, with freedom and ownership at the core.
We’re seeking an experienced Web3 Attorney to advise on the full spectrum of legal and regulatory matters across our blockchain ecosystem. This role will help shape the legal framework for a next-generation Layer 1 network, influencing validator operations, governance models, commercial agreements, and compliance strategy.
Reporting to the COO, you’ll partner closely with senior leadership, product teams, and external counsel to maintain compliance with evolving global regulations. This is a role for someone energised by ambiguity, driven by emerging technology, and excited to lay the legal foundation for a decentralised ecosystem post-TGE.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise on all legal aspects of blockchain operations, including validator agreements, staking structures, token emissions, and governance mechanisms.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements (e.g. investment, commercial, SaaS, IP licensing, vendor, partnership, and validator contracts).
Monitor regulatory developments across major jurisdictions relating to crypto assets, securities, and AML/KYC.
Guide ongoing token compliance, treasury management, and secondary-market activity.
Partner with internal teams to ensure product launches and ecosystem initiatives align with global legal standards.
Manage external counsel relationships and coordinate on complex cross-border matters.
Build internal legal frameworks, policies, and document templates.
Advise leadership on regulatory risk, compliance exposure, and strategic opportunities.
Requirements:
Qualified lawyer (J.D. or equivalent) with active bar membership in a relevant jurisdiction (e.g. U.S., UK, BVI, Cayman, EU, or comparable).
10–15 years of legal experience, including at least 3 years focused on blockchain, digital assets, or fintech.
Strong grasp of securities regulation, token classification, AML/KYC frameworks, and data protection laws.
Experience supporting token launches, DAOs, validator networks, or Web3 commercial ecosystems (preferred).
Ability to balance legal risk with commercial priorities in an emerging-tech environment.
Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort in a high-growth, early-stage environment.
Passion for blockchain and the evolution of digital economies.
