Principal Product Engineer: Chamber

Employment type:  Full time

Job Description

About us

At Chamber, we’re redefining virtual spaces. Blending cutting-edge immersive tech with human-centered design, we craft vibrant and intuitive environments where people collaborate, create, and engage effortlessly.

We’re looking for our first Principal Product Designer to join the team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the design direction of a new product from the ground up. You'll be embedded in a small, high-trust, cross-functional team where design has a seat at the table from day one.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Principal Product Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technology, UX, and product strategy. Someone who can take an idea, strip it down to its core, and rapidly prototype the essence, proving (or disproving) value before building the whole system. You'll work across the stack and with cross-functional peers to deliver innovative and extensible features.

This role requires a strong technical grounding, a bias toward experimentation, and a product sense rooted in real-world utility. You'll help shape not just how we build things but also what we build and how we adapt quickly as the space evolves.

What You'll Do

  • Lead technical design and implementation of flexible, modular features that can evolve across use cases

  • Rapidly prototype ideas to validate product direction, surface constraints, and reduce time-to-learning

  • Collaborate with Product and Design to explore user-facing concepts from first principles

  • Build with optionality—designing for change without over-engineering from the start

  • Contribute to a tight feedback loop between technical feasibility, user needs, and strategic goals

  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical standards and best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated product-focused work.

  • Strong expertise in modern web technologies and frameworks (React, Next.js, TypeScript).

  • Solid backend understanding—able to reason about system architecture, data flow, and scaling constraints.

  • Experience with real-time communication tools (WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, pub/sub architectures).

  • Proven track record of taking ideas from concept to production in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating with game engines or building apps alongside game-tech platforms.

  • Knowledge of streaming technologies (e.g., WebRTC) and their implications on latency and UX.

  • Familiarity with generative AI and spatial computing (3D asset generation, NeRFs, Gaussian splatting).

  • Experience with LLM-integrated workflows and multimodal AI applications.

Who You Are

  • You think in systems, are comfortable validating fast, and iterating as you go.

  • You balance innovation with pragmatism: you know when to experiment and when to scale.

  • You're collaborative and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • You're detail-oriented but can also see how your work fits broader company goals.

Why Join Us

We're building a platform where real-time interaction, immersive environments, and audience participation converge. The surface area is vast, but we're moving with focus and velocity. This is a high-trust, hands-on role for someone who wants to shape the future of shared virtual experiences, without losing touch with the code.
