Job Description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

Senior Consultant, Financial Crime

Competitive business today is all about making intelligent, informed decisions. As a Senior Consultant in our Financial Crime Practice, you’ll help make this happen. That will mean using your technical knowledge and client facing skills, working within teams to help clients make strategic and operational changes to their businesses. Working with some of the world’s most prestigious firms, you will be an integral part of our team.

The opportunity

EY is helping leading financial institutions reimagine how financial crime capabilities are designed, built and operated. As regulatory expectations evolve and emerging technologies such as AI, workflow orchestration and real-time data platforms reshape the landscape, we are looking for individuals who can help bridge the gap between financial crime risk and technology delivery.

We are seeking a Senior Consultant with a strong product and delivery mindset who understands how business requirements are translated into practical technology solutions. The ideal candidate combines financial crime domain knowledge with experience supporting the design and delivery of technology-enabled change initiatives.

You will work across product, strategy, design and implementation engagements, helping clients transform capabilities across KYC/CDD, onboarding, Anti-Money Laundering Transaction Monitoring, sanctions, fraud and wider financial crime ecosystems.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support the definition and shaping of product and capability designs across financial crime transformation programmes
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into detailed functional and non-functional requirements
  • Support requirement gathering, prioritisation activities and backlog management
  • Collaborate with business SMEs, technology teams, architects and delivery functions to support successful outcomes
  • Contribute to the development of target operating models, future-state solution designs and agile delivery approaches
  • Support the development of product roadmaps, tracking dependencies, risks and delivery milestones
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI, agents, automation and modern platforms to address financial crime challenges
  • Contribute to transformation business cases and support the development of future-state financial crime visions
  • Deliver workstreams and project activities across a variety of financial crime engagements
  • Support business development activities through research, proposal development and creation of reusable assets and collateral
  • Coach and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment

Skills and attributes for success

  • A product and delivery mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and practical execution
  • An ability to work effectively across business, risk, people and technology teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • An ability to bring structure and clarity to complex problems
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Confidence to challenge constructively and contribute ideas effectively
  • Commercial awareness and a focus on delivering value to clients
  • Curious and passionate about innovation and emerging technologies, with a good understanding of technology applications within financial crime
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Functional Consultant, Project Consultant or equivalent role within Financial Services or Consulting
  • A good understanding of the financial crime ecosystem, including AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud and emerging technology trends
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to translate business requirements, regulatory drivers and operational challenges into solution requirements
  • The ability to work with a variety of stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience working on transformation, technology implementation or change delivery programmes
  • Strong academic background, ideally to a degree level or equivalent
  • Flexibility to travel and work full-time on assignments, as necessary

Ideally, you'll also have

  • A background in financial services with a solid understanding of the regulatory landscape (e.g. AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud) and experience supporting technology transformation initiatives
  • Experience working with or supporting emerging technologies within banks, including AI-enabled solutions, workflow automation and advanced analytics
  • Professional certifications such as Business Analysis, Agile, Scrum or Financial Crime qualifications
  • Exposure to modern technology platforms, data solutions and digital transformation programmes

What we are looking for

We are looking for an individual who thinks like a consultant and understands how products and technology can enable business outcomes. Someone who can engage confidently with stakeholders, work effectively across strategy and delivery activities, and collaborate with business, risk, people and technology teams to solve complex problems.

The successful candidate will be naturally curious, comfortable working in fast-paced environments and passionate about applying technology to improve financial crime capabilities.

At EY, this role provides the opportunity to work at the forefront of financial crime transformation, helping deliver innovative solutions for some of the largest financial institutions while building expertise in a rapidly evolving area of our practice.
