Job Description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a Sales Enablement Manager to support the Midlands Tax team and help build a more client-centric, sales-focused approach to account development.

Reporting through Sales Enablement leadership and working closely with regional Tax leadership, you will help translate client insight, account priorities and market opportunities into clear action across the Birmingham and wider Midlands market.

This is a high-impact, partner-facing role where you’ll coach account holders, facilitate account discussions, challenge teams on white space and help introduce the right Tax specialists at the right time. This is not a traditional direct sales role: you will enable, coach and connect others rather than personally owning the sale.

Your key responsibilities

  • Coach account holders through structured one-to-one account sessions to understand what is happening in the account, the strength of the client relationship, current work, future needs and potential opportunities
  • Facilitate and challenge key account calls by helping teams review financials, current activity, relationship coverage, white space, sector insight and agreed follow-up actions
  • Work with Tax sub-service line specialists and regional “scouts” to identify target clients, shape relevant approaches and connect them with the appropriate relationship holder
  • Support account teams to move from “what do we want to push?” to “what does the client need?” so that activity is client-centric and commercially relevant
  • Take part in ASQs, Assessment of Service Quality client service reviews using them to understand service quality, client priorities and the client’s agenda for the next 12 months
  • Translate ASQ and account insights into practical actions, including relevant introductions, tailored follow-up and opportunities to improve Tax service-line penetration
  • Working with the NW Sales Enablement Lead you will support BD campaigns, events and market activation activity where they help build relationships, create connections or progress account opportunities
  • Build a visible presence in the Birmingham office and across the Midlands Tax network.
  • Help account teams become more self-sufficient by coaching, facilitating and acting as a sounding board rather than running accounts on their behalf

Skills and attributes for success

  • The main KPIs will be to increase sales revenue and Tax sub-service line penetration across relevant Midlands accounts.
  • Strong sales, business development or account development experience, with the ability to translate commercial instinct into coaching and enablement
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across senior stakeholders, partners, account holders and service-line specialists
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working in a partner-led, matrix environment where leadership and priorities may come from multiple directions
  • A client-centric mindset, with the ability to understand business context, ask strong questions and uncover relevant needs
  • Strong facilitation, coaching and questioning skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and appropriately
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to prioritise high-impact opportunities and focus effort where it can drive revenue or service-line penetration
  • Proactive, autonomous self-starter mindset with the ability to operate in ambiguous and evolving environments

Ideally, you’ll also

  • Have experience in professional services such as accountancy, legal, consultancy or another client-facing advisory environment
  • Understand how to operate in a partnership structure with multiple senior stakeholders and a non-hierarchical leadership model
  • Bring experience from roles spanning sales enablement, business development, recruitment, account management or client development
  • Have experience supporting client conversations, account planning, opportunity identification, events, campaigns or go-to-market activity
  • Be comfortable moving from direct sales or BD delivery into a role focused on enabling others to develop business effectively

What we look for

  • Ambition and drive – this role offers a genuine pathway to progression, and we want someone motivated to grow, take ownership and make the role their own
  • A confident and resilient approach – able to engage, influence and challenge stakeholders while staying collaborative and supportive
  • Strong relationship builder, able to work collaboratively across Tax teams, service lines and regional stakeholders
  • Someone who is entrepreneurial and curious, who can identify new opportunities where there is a clear link to revenue growth or Tax service-line penetration
  • Someone who enjoys coaching others and helping teams become more effective, rather than needing to personally own every sales action

What we offer you

At EY, we’ll develop you with future-focused skills and equip you with world-class experiences. We’ll empower you in a flexible environment, and support your progression in a role with real visibility and impact across the Midlands.

This role offers:

  • A unique opportunity to shape a high-impact regional role within Sales Enablement and Midlands Tax
  • Strong exposure to senior stakeholders, partners and regional Tax leadership
  • A clear progression pathway as the Sales Enablement team structure evolves
  • The chance to build a trusted profile in Birmingham while supporting clients and account teams across the wider Midlands region
  • The opportunity to operate in a collaborative, high-performing and people-first culture

At EY, we’ll empower you in a flexible environment, and fuel your extraordinary talents in a diverse and inclusive culture of globally connected teams.
