Role Purpose

The Investment Analyst will actively support investment appraisal and project management across all Upstream investments and contracts. The successful candidate will be involved in modelling, investment appraisal, investment paper preparation and negotiation of commercial contracts and investments, driving the commercial strategy to maximise value and green development opportunities for the company.

About the role:

  • Lead valuation of storage, solar, wind and peaker opportunities
  • Manage and oversee internal and external due diligence for assigned projects
  • Lead complex negotiations with external parties such as developers and their subcontracted consultants in all phases of the acquisition process
  • Maintain good working knowledge of key commercial and regulatory value drivers for upstream assets in the Irish Market.
  • Support the governance and approvals process for achieving investment committee signoff for the development of these large-scale projects, including the development of IC papers.
  • Lead on the commercial requirements, including reviewing and developing SPA/APAs; land HoTs/option; PPA HoTs; Developer Framework Agreements; Exclusivity Agreements, and any other commercial requirements.
  • Taking the initiative to network and build relationships with our developer partners to ensure smooth and efficient progress with the acquisition of any project opportunities, whilst overseeing the acquisition process
  • Engage and support in corporate PPA opportunities
  • Review, model and appraise new investment opportunities across Power Purchase Agreements, M&A and strategic partnerships, engaging with senior team members where required.
  • Focused areas will include renewable energy, energy storage and net zero dispatchable generation.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders across the business in a timely manner to socialise opportunities and achieve buy-in.
  • Preparation and presentation of investment papers, business cases and plans to present to Executive, Management team, Board and Shareholder
  • Work closely with several disciplines to deliver synergistic value to investments across external and internal resources including, Finance, Trading, Legal and Technical
  • Informing and driving consistent commercial thinking across the projects and relevant business areas; working closely with supporting functions

About you:

  • 3rd Level Qualification in relevant discipline with relevant experience and market knowledge – i.e. investment, regulation, market modelling
  • In depth experience of market modelling, business case development, financing / funding and investment strategies for development and operational projects
  • Understanding of regulatory and operational market landscape with and ability to grasp the key commercial drivers in relation to existing assets and new transactions, including what key drivers for value enhancement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to disseminate complex information in a simple and transparent manner
  • Form excellent working relationships with Business Development functions driving value generation and prioritisation of optimal project selection
  • Work closely with several disciplines to deliver synergistic value to investments across external and internal resources including, Finance, Trading, Legal and Technical
  • Able to grasp the key commercial drivers in relation to existing assets and new transactions, including what the key drivers are for value enhancement.
  • Able to manage involvement in a number of simultaneous initiatives, deliver work to agreed deadlines, and work well with a variety of individuals.
  • Have an enthusiastic and tenacious approach with a strong commitment to learning.
