Job Description

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

We're looking for an experienced Ethics & Compliance Governance Consultant to support the ongoing development and enhancement of our Group Ethics & Compliance Governance Framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in strengthening governance arrangements, driving clear accountability, and ensuring our compliance frameworks remain effective, robust and aligned to evolving regulatory requirements.

Working with a broad range of stakeholders, you'll provide specialist expertise on regulatory governance and accountability frameworks, support strategic compliance initiatives, and help embed a culture of ownership, transparency and responsible decision-making throughout the business.

Location: Ideally you'll be within commuting distance and able to travel to our Windsor office (until December 2026) and Reading office (from January 2027) when required. We're also open to considering candidates based elsewhere across the UK.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the ongoing development of the Group Ethics & Compliance Governance Framework, strengthening governance, accountability and regulatory compliance across the business.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR), providing guidance and support to stakeholders.
  • Driving enhancements to accountability frameworks, including regulatory mapping, governance processes and SM&CR reform initiatives.
  • Delivering training, communications and engagement activities that embed accountability and compliance obligations among Senior Managers and Certified Persons.
  • Coordinating regulatory reporting, information requests and submissions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining key elements of the Compliance Framework, including policies, governance documentation, compliance plans and supporting resources.
  • Building effective relationships across the business to support the successful delivery of compliance and governance objectives.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant compliance, governance or risk management qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment, ideally with exposure to FCA, PRA, Ofgem or similar regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance, risk management and accountability frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory developments and assess business impacts.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex environment.

Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.
