Enterprise Risk & Controls Manager

Leicester with FlexFirst hybrid working

Overview

British Gas Business (BGB) is the leading provider of energy to SMEs in the UK and is focused on helping its customers energising a greener, fairer future.

This position leads the on-going risk management and control activities within British Gas Business, developing strategies to mitigate impacts.

You will be required to visit our Leicester and Windsor offices.

The Role

Managing and developing a team, you will support and challenge on how the business' key risks and controls are being identified, assessed, managed, monitored, and reported. Managing quarterly risk and control assessment reviews and reviewing/challenging the accuracy of the outputs to drive improvements will be part of your role. You will also facilitate and drive action planning for emerging risk identification and assessment and embed risk management in British Gas Business.

You will need to develop and maintain a Risk Register and Controls Framework along with requisite policies and procedures. You will also build out a forward-looking risk identification strategy to support business teams to identify and manage emerging/horizon risks and potential blind spots, introducing appropriate tools and approaches as required, such as data analytics and scenario analysis. Developing and driving a culture of ‘intelligent risk taking’ across BGB to support better application, outcomes and understanding of how effective risk management supports BGB’s commercial ambitions will be key.

Lastly, you will develop stakeholder relationships, engage colleagues from Group functions (Risk, HSE) and work closely with other Risk Managers to share best practice.

The Person

You will be an experienced senior risk manager within a regulated industry involving the interpretation and practical application of risk management requirements (first, second or third line).

You’ll have a proven track record of implementing best practice, robust and sustainable risk management and control frameworks within a complex organisation. A deep understanding of and expertise in the identification and management of operational, conduct and regulatory risk.

You will have a track record of influence, presenting implications to stakeholders, managing ambiguity and uplifting risk management capability.

We would also like you to have a professional legal, risk or audit qualification and have developed a team.
