The role will report to the Head of Strategy and sits within the Group Strategy team. The team is a small, and performance driven with direct responsibility for supporting the CEO and CFO in developing and delivering Centrica’s corporate strategy. The role will work closely across the Centrica Leadership Team (CLT) developing group strategy.

  • Location: Windsor, with flexible working and travel as required

Key Accountabilities

  • Managing delivery of and overseeing the coordination and associated stakeholder engagement related to the development of the Group Strategy, and additional strategic thought pieces, with the purpose of driving commercial growth and sustained shareholder returns

  • Managing delivery of and overseeing the co-ordination of the Groups capital allocation and investment strategy

  • Overseeing business performance tracking against key strategic deliverables

  • Managing Special Projects for the CEO / CLT, focusing on topics such as growth strategy, market analysis and evaluation of new business opportunities for Centrica

  • Enhancing Centrica’s understanding of markets, competitors and the energy transition, providing internal & external thought partnership / leadership

  • Building and maintaining key relationships across the organisation with the Centrica Leadership team, Strategy community and Finance teams

  • Providing team leadership and developing others in the team – work planning, prioritisation, guidance, and oversight

  • Leader, able to give clear direction and decisively manage uncertainty

  • Ability to manage teams to deliver exceptional quality work within a high-pressure environment often to extremely tight deadlines

  • Exceptional use of communication and inter-personal skills

  • Strategic, critical thinker and intellectually curious with strong analytical, numerical, and strategic problem solving skills

  • Commercial acumen and an understanding of business drivers with ability to critically review models and business plans

  • Strong network and relationship building skills (both internal and external), and ability to manage a complex and evolving stakeholder landscape

  • Ability to handle complex issues, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work on a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues

  • Excellent communication presentation and influencing skills, in oral, written, and Powerpoint

  • Comfortable with ambiguity

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Degree, with additional qualifications preferred (MBA, ACA, CFA, CIMA)

Work Experience

  • Significant experience in strategy development, proven ability in strategic thinking and storyline development

  • 5+ years operating in a strategy role(s), be that in-house or with a consultancy

  • Proven track record of leading teams to deliver strategy projects, presentations, or reports for senior management and managing multiple senior stakeholders

  • Financial literacy and experience of conducting financial analyses, including financial statement forecasts, valuations, CAPM and financial assessment of strategic options

  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to C-Suite level

  • Record of building relationships and becoming a ‘trusted advisor’ at the highest levels of an organisation

  • Proven track record of working under pressure within a fast-paced environment
