This role supports the successful integration of new systems, products, services, and validation campaigns to assure the quality of the deliveries on behalf of BT/EE for the Emergency Services Network (ESN) and its customers, through technical and commercial launch.

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a major strategic priority for BT and our commitment to do the best for our customers and our country. ESN will be the most advanced Emergency Services Network in the world – BT/EE will be helping Britain to be a world leader in mobile. Growing coverage, enhancing reliability and increasing resilience will be the most important elements of building this vital communications network, which the Emergency Services will rely on to save lives and protect us all. The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and will be built on the existing 4G/5G network and will provide essential voice, data and video services as well as critical communication capability to 385,000 of Britain's Emergency Services Users (Fire and rescue, Police and Ambulance). Our consumer and business customers will benefit from expanded 4G/5G coverage and enhanced network reliability and resilience. The Senior Test Engineer will have strong detailed technical skills, experience in and knowledge of end to end integration testing in both Reference as well as Production environments. Being able to demonstrate knowledge preferably across multiple domains such a RAN, Cloud core, IMS and or applications. The role is part of a growing team of on-shore senior test engineers.

The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the EE/BT Programme Test strategy, Testplans and Test case documentation as well as be accountable for test execution, and responsible for progressing tes case automation, trouble shooting and reporting. Our purpose is to use the power of communication to Connect people for good. Act as an advocate for Quality Assurance and Integration, engaging other functions within Technology and across functions, in order to communicate test principles, aims and process. Share success and ensure the value added is understood by technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will be required to undergo National Security Vetting to SC or NPPV level.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design Test Cases and Support Creation of test plans, embedding automation throughout.
  • Champion Quality Assurance and Integration across BT Technology.
  • Execute end-to-end testing and integration, ensuring alignment with standard such as TMMi and ISTQB standards as required.
  • Report test results and test issues following established defect management processes, adhere to agreed ways of working and governance always striving to achieve the highest quality output.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers and where relevant Home Office teams and emergency services users.
  • Support and execute integration testing, Support User acceptance and Operational Acceptance testing as well as relevant Non-functioanl testing such as performance and fail over testing through to live validation.
  • Support the successful resolution of testing-related issues.
  • Provide analysis to support informed decision-making with customer experience in mind.

What we would like to see on your CV

  • Hands-on experience executing testing on core network or radio network, with 4G testing experience
  • Experience with Nokia and Ericsson RAN vendors
  • Understanding of test methodologies and practices (ISTQB)
  • Proven experience deriving test cases from requirements and executing them
  • Experience analysing test results and test automation experience (automating test cases and running in automated frameworks)
  • Must have Excel, NetScout, Jira and Open-source automation tooling knowledge and experience.

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
