Why this job matters

The purpose of the Technical Delivery role is to lead the development and delivery the products used by our customers by owning and delivering product development from design through to live implementation based on our customers ever changing requirements in a dynamic and ever evolving market. This includes the need to support release train activities, coordinating across squads and stakeholders to align code and any associated dependencies as part of a release plan. RTE ensures that once a plan is agreed that we execute on it in terms of delivering features into environments at the right time to enable the delivery pipeline from development through to live

What you’ll be doing

The purpose of the Technical Delivery Manager role is to deliver either standalone projects or sub-projects of larger programmes.
Specifically, this role is accountable for:
• Owns and delivers Technical Projects from requirements through to live implementation.
• Designs and drives improved working processes for efficient live deployment.
• Deliver requirements by ensuring production of robust and achievable delivery plans.
• Manages technical delivery change control at a project and programme level.
• Ensuring the scope of delivery is understood, including systems and networks where necessary and that the solution meets the business need and that plans are comprehensive and are achieved.
• Ensuring that all impacted teams understand, engage and commit to deliver plans.
• Identifying prerequisites to network deliveries and ensure that they are delivered.
• Ensuring that platforms/components can commit to delivery commitments.
• Track and manage project finances.
• Identifying when deliveries are at risk and take corrective action to resolve and risk management including communicating with senior managers and stakeholders.
• Track and monitor development testing and status of features through to release.
• Ability to manage and co-ordinate across multiple delivery managers

Skills and Experience

• Strong communications skills, able to forge strong relationships with peer-level designers, platform managers, developers, engineering, planning and operations managers to explain and drive technology change through the lifecycle.
• Supporting senior managers and directors in Networks, Digital and the CFUs on change and adoption of best practice.
• Ability to work with stakeholders to ensure the proposed solution is affordable, deliverable and delivers the required business outcomes.
• Project management skills to deliver business benefit in a timely way by focusing on must do capability and delivering effective end to end solutions.
• Issue & Risk Management & change control
• Innovating to exceed Time, Cost, Quality measures / sharing best practice.
• Experienced in technology delivery of large-scale projects and Agile delivery practices.
• Leadership skills to lead and motivate the team to deliver excellent results and maintain #1Networks.
• Experience in solving problems that arise from the interaction of multiple components and usually are complex and unknown.
Experience you would be expected to have
Mandatory
• Expertise in large scale technical delivery projects
• decision-making, problem-solving, joint-planning – all informed by Customer Experience and cost/time trade-offs
• Stakeholder management - team-working across Networks, Digital & CFUs
• track-record of leading matrix teams through change and develop a challenging and supportive team culture.
• Issue & Risk Management – active management through applying appropriate risk management strategies for both delivery and business risks
• Understanding and experience of managing budgets and financial reporting.
Preferred
• Agile Methodologies experience
