About the role

This role is key to supporting a key customer by delivering and enhancing network tooling, automation, and lab infrastructure that underpin mission-critical services. As part of BT's commitment to building the best networks and delivering top-tier service across Europe, you’ll directly contribute to our ambition to be number one for Service. Your work will help drive continuous improvement and innovation, supporting not just our customers, but our colleagues, communities, and the country.

Please note you must either hold or be eligible for SC (Security Clearance) to be an eligible candidate for this role.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting the implementation and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Cloud, Git, and container technologies.
• Maintaining and enhancing monitoring tools to maximise system uptime, performance, and reliability, while actively contributing to improvements in Site Reliability Engineering practices and workflows.
• Installing, configuring (including networking), administering, troubleshooting, and managing virtual machines, along with integrating tools via APIs.
• Investigating and resolving technical issues assigned by the Tools Manager, and participating in technical meetings, change advisory boards, and service reviews as needed.
• Creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation - covering processes, procedures, and work instructions - in line with internal standards and quality frameworks.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Hands-on experience with server operating systems, both Windows Server and Linux, plus advanced knowledge of VMware environments (including vCenter); experience with network change implementations supporting incident resolution and project delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to create detailed, consumable documentation for tooling deployments, automation (including CI/CD), recovery, testing, and implementation planning.

  • Solid scripting and development skills across a range of technologies including Python, PowerShell, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, XML, REST, SOAP, and experience developing operational procedures, processes, and scripts.
