Senior Manager, Embedded & Cloud Security (Product Lead)

The Scope

Since forming as a unified Security organisation in 2014, we have grown to a circa £600m business today. We have strong plans and ambition to grow to £1bn before 2030. Our goal is to make BT the standout company within the security space across SMB, Corporate and Public sector customers.

A key element of this role is to lead a product team which develops a suite of security controls integrated or co-located in BT’s core network infrastructure, delivering a consistent security policy across fixed and mobile networks. As a product leader the expectation would be for the Senior Manager to own both strategic definition and execution.

The goal is to position BT as a market leader for Secure Connectivity and Cloud Services in the UK, significantly growing our market share, providing competitive differentiation, and supporting the acceleration of BT Security’s revenue growth ambitions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for the mentoring, coaching and line management of three direct reports.
  • Developing the medium-term plan and enabling BT to differentiate as a UK market leader for Secure Connectivity.
  • Translating complex problems into simple actions and strategy through bold decision making.
  • Defining, shaping and driving the implementation of the Security strategy for embedded solutions that leverage BT’s differentiated assets i.e. our network and intelligence.
  • Working closely with a broad set of stakeholders including Networks, Digital, UK Fabric Portfolio teams to integrate security closely into our connectivity services (fixed and mobile); and launch “secure solutions” onto new strategic system stack.
  • Expertly negotiating and creating compelling, flexible commercial models, which are cost sensitive and align to customer buying behaviours.
  • Ensure a digitally transformed, scalable portfolio that supports significant volume without manual intervention, using automation to enhance customer experience, achieve economies of scale, and boost sales.

Experience needed to be successful in the role:

  • Vast experience owning the end-to-end product lifecycle of managed service product launches from concept to market in the UK B2B market. This involves idea generation, business case approval and then development through to market launch using agile methodologies.
  • A history of providing inclusive leadership to drive a high performing, engaged and inclusive teams who continually strive for professional improvement and personal development. This includes having had formal line management responsibilities.
  • Strong financial literacy and commercial acumen with the ability to develop and present a business case, pricing strategy and lead on large scale vendor contract and commercial negotiations.
  • Proven technical proficiency in "Networking" and "Managed Security" solutions, with a track record of analysing market trends, customer buying behaviours and business needs.
  • Extensive experience of engaging and influencing a wide variety of stakeholders both externally (Customers) and internally at the highest level (C suite/Director Level).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels in the context of cyber security propositions in a way which will effectively resonate with customers and non-security experts.
  • Capable of making bold decisions on complex problems utilising both expert opinions and insights but also one’s own initiative.
