
Scrum Master Specialist - BT Email Platform
Job Description
Working Locations: London, Manchester, Birmingham
Working Style: 3 days a week in office, 2 days from home
About the role
This role sits within the BT Email Platform, supporting the delivery of a large-scale, critical consumer service. You will enable consistent, high-quality delivery by embedding Agile ways of working across squads. You will work closely with the Product Owner and wider stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns to product priorities and business outcomes.
You will be part of BT’s wider Agile maturity by sharing best practice, coaching teams, and driving continuous improvement across squads and suppliers. You will also support improved platform reliability, faster delivery of customer features, and more efficient use of engineering capacity across the BT Email platform.

- Reduced blockers and faster resolution of delivery issues
- Clear, well-managed dependencies across teams and suppliers
- Continuous improvement actions embedded and delivering measurable change
What you’ll be doing
- Run all Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives)
- Ensure teams deliver against agreed sprint goals and Definition of Done
- Drive predictable, value-focused delivery
- Coach teams to be self-managing, collaborative, and outcome-focused
- Embed improvements from retrospectives into day-to-day ways of working
- Identify and remove blockers that impact delivery
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies and escalate where needed
- Protect team capacity and minimise unplanned work or disruption
- Highlight resourcing gaps and support escalation where required
- Work with the Product Owner to maintain a clear, prioritised backlog
- Ensure backlog readiness and clarity before delivery begins
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders
- Coordinate across squads, suppliers, and technical teams
- Manage cross-team dependencies to maintain delivery flow
- Champion Agile best practice across the team and wider organisation
- Support development of Agile capability and community
- Act as a leader in Agile ways of working across the tribe, promoting best practice and consistency across teams
- Drive improved delivery outcomes including predictability, quality, and time to value
Essential Skills / Experience
- Experience working as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead
- Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum frameworks
- Confident facilitation and coaching skills
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
- Ability to manage risks, priorities, and delivery outcomes
- Comfortable working across competing demands while protecting team effectiveness
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience working in platform or technical environments
- Experience across multiple squads and supplier ecosystems
- Programme delivery experience
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira
- Experience working in large enterprise organisations
- Good ability to navigate both the digital and the network side, ideally within combined digital and network projects such as the SAF authentication program
