Why this job matters

Working in this role you will play a critical part in the operation of the BT Enterprise SRE & QA function. In Business Quality Assurance team, we advocate for Quality across all the phases. As a Automation Engineer Specialist in the Business Digital unit, the responsibility includes - implementing the data ingestion framework between the New IT Components to execute a seamless Sales and Fulfilment Journey to accelerate the E2E test Automation for maximum Functionality and Feature Coverage in SIT/BETA environments to achieve the rapid product launch.

The Automation Engineer Specialist should be
• Having extensive E2E knowledge on the Strategic/New IT systems for key products w.r.t to Sales and Fulfilment

• Having strong knowledge on the Data Automation/Ingestion to the New IT Systems

• Able to Collaborate with BT Components across BT Unit/LOBs and understand the data model and automate the data ingestion

• Having good knowledge on the SAAS and COTS products like Sales Force, Velocity CPQ/COM, Ciena Blue Planet, Pega and Service Now., documents the risk and mitigation measures, track & monitor the progression of deliverables, drives automation across the phases of QA, tracks the QA efforts within the defined test points.

• Working as part of a team of highly skilled specialists, you will play a vital role in creating capabilities that enable the QA function to deliver its commitments across business Unit within the stipulated timeline. Will work closely with the Requirement leads/Business stakeholders, Solution Design, Engineering, Delivery & In-life teams to ensure we deliver the requirements into production with Quality as per agreed milestone.

• Having strong knowledge and experience with Data Seeding/Data Automation/Data Ingestion into different systems to enable QA to perform testing seamlessly.

What you’ll be doing

• Contributes to the design and development of test data automation solutions that validate the functionality of applications for E2E Test cases for Strategic IT Products within Business Digital
• Leads the full lifecycle integration testing to support complex projects to define and drive the deliverables required
• Delivers complex analysis to understand the impacts and causes of defects and issues, driving the team of QA analysts to investigate, identify and define advanced solutions
• Executes a range of testing activities inclusive of test case creation, diagnostics and test data strategy for portfolios in strategic IT, and is accountable for first/second level diagnostics enabling test
delivery to time, cost, quality across multiple workstreams.
• Understand the testing effort by analysing the requirements of project.
• Provide inputs on high-level test scenarios, challenges, risks, resources, test estimates, etc., during test planning meetings
• Develop the test plan for the tasks, dependencies and participants required to mitigate the risks to system quality and obtain stakeholder support for this plan.
• Collaborate and Implement Test Data Automation in to required systems for E2E Test.
• Write and execute test cases to find system bugs like UI and usability issues, etc.
• Arrange the Hardware (physical/device/lab setup requirements) and software requirement for the Test Setup.
• Document, implement, monitor, and enforce all processes for testing as per standards defined by the organization.
• Check / Review the Test Cases documents.
• Keep track of the new requirements / change in requirements of the Project.
• Escalate the issues about project requirements and blockers (Software, Hardware, Resources) to Project Manager / Sr. Test Manager.
• Organize the status meetings and send the Status Report (Daily, weekly etc.) to the Stakeholders
• Track and prepare the report of testing activities like test testing results, test case coverage, required resources, defects discovered and their status, performance baselines etc.
• Ensure the timely delivery of different testing milestones.
• Prepares/updates the metrics dashboard at the end of a phase or at the completion of project.
• Knowledge on test tools and automation, focus on Automation at every possible stage of SDLC phase.
• Develop Automation scripts and focus on Automation first approach for all the new functional requirements
• Contribute for continuous improvement of their own team through retrospective findings

The skills you’ll need

MANDATORY
• Familiarity with entire SDLC/STLC
• Extensive working experience with data automation/ingestion/seeding
• Working on an agile project as part of an agile team.
• Experience in writing automation scripts.
• Experience on implementing Test Script Generation for UI/API.
• Proven experience of driving Test automation projects
• Extensive Professional Test experience
• Knowledge on testing phases and concepts
• Telecom domain knowledge
• Hands on experience on Automation
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Testing Concepts: Understands non-functional testing including: performance, resilience, usability, security penetration. Experienced in implementing a number of these. Aware of the tools that available to support these kinds of testing. Understands end-to-end and multi-system testing issues and techniques

• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
• Skill for writing reusable Java libraries
• Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java
• Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful
• Familiarity with Java GUI frameworks {{such as Swing, SWT, and AWT depending on project requirements}}
• Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
• Experience with both external and embedded databases
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds
• Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests

• Experience working on any latest test automation tool.

• Knowledge CI-CD and Continuous testing
• ISTQB Certification - Foundation level
