Job Description

Why This Job Matters

The Manager is responsible for driving and delivering the procurement plan and activities in BT’s Category Management, Strategic Sourcing & Proc. Business Partnering practice. This role develops and implements procurement frameworks, policies and procedures. This role holds strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure procurement competency and continuous value delivery.

This particular role will focus on sourcing activities related to with wide variety of BT’s strategic partners in the domain of IT infrastructure (Software/Hardware/Services), Data Analytics, IT Cloud services (such as Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Azure). Relevant IT sourcing experience is recommended.

Accountabilties

  • Strategic
  • Accountable for the creation and delivery of category plans and sourcing activities, through planning and execution of sourcing, bid support, supplier and risk management activities
  • Build and maintain category expertise, apply best practices around sourcing approach, supplier selection, total cost of ownership and negotiation tactics
  • Operational
  • Identify business improvements leveraging the commercial, design and process to minimise the Total Cost of Ownership
  • Collaborate with regional and industry teams, execute and deliver category plan & sourcing activities against key metrics
  • Adhere to procurement processes and activities with other procurement teams
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the business objectives and key transformational programmes

Activities:

  • Manage and deliver category spend and performance, develop and deliver category plan and long term values, implement business improvements through optimising commercial, design and process levers that minimise the Total Cost of Ownership
  • Drive and deliver end-to-end sourcing projects including complex contractual and pricing models
  • Develop and deliver policies and frameworks underpin products and service delivery
  • Maintain internal and external networks, to ensure buy in and improvements of customer value and Total Cost of Ownership
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers, negotiate commercial and contractual arrangements utilising the latest contracting tools, templates and terms and conditions, ensure required performance and contractual obligations are met, while incorporating innovative improvement initiatives
  • Manage and develop a team of procurement professionals to deliver brilliant outcomes for BT and our customers
  • Deliver business partnering services to key CFUs / CUs

Experience

  • Min 8 years experience within the procurement function, with strong sourcing skills and the ability to collaborate and deliver through high performance teams
  • Strong expertise in relevant category, particularly around supplier capabilities, commercial models, product lifecycles and partner programmes required to deliver portfolio and customer requirements
  • Demonstrates a track record of decision making capability and deliver against key metrics
  • Strong relationship management skills & ability to influence decision making with senior stakeholders within a matrixed environment
  • Ability to manage complex, strategic and commercial requirements between BT and Suppliers, deliver projects and results on time and in full
  • Experience in business partnering and supplier relationship management
  • Demonstrates strong continuous improvement skills that exceeds expectations
